Hi Everyone,
The 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and Seafood Festival was a hot day but nonetheless, it was a wonderful, family-friendly time for all of us. I can’t say thank you enough to all of you for making our biggest fundraiser a truly successful event. I know it takes a lot of time and effort and thank you to all for giving up part of your day to make it happen. A special thanks to Ron Wrobel for his professional and efficient management of the event: all the planning, coordination, and execution that made it run so smoothly. We had visitors from all over the state, country, and the world. Everywhere I looked people were happy and having a delightful time.
Douglas Johnson, a visiting Rotarian from the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, Texas, wanted to congratulate us for the commitment to our community and to Rotary International. We had a Rotary “moment” and exchanged club banners. He said to me, “Rotarians are like family, we signed up for the same reasons: making the world a better and safer place to live”. Douglas is absolutely right. Like every year, we had a productive and profitable event, and we wouldn’t have done it without all the generous and thoughtful Rotarians and volunteers that were there to help. We make a difference; Rotarians make a difference. Thank you indeed.
The District Governor visit is this Wednesday, July 10th. We hope you all can attend. Suzanne Uhl- Melanson will be presenting her district project in Guatemala next year and also her goals as district governor. We also will be inducting our first member of the year, Lucas Dunbar. The Board of Directors will meet with Suzanne at 11:00 a.m. to present our club’s goals for this year. It should be an interesting meeting, and again I encourage all members to attend.
This Sunday, July 14, we have a really fun fellowship event. The Portland Sea Dogs, AA affiliate of the 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, are partnering with us as they take on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, AA affiliate of the New York Mets. A portion of the tickets we sell through the link
www.groupmatics.events/event/BHRotary714 will be donated to us, which we in turn are donating to Acadia Youth Sports for its project to upgrade the Bar Harbor ball field facilities. If you have the opportunity to go and support this fun event, please use the link and purchase your tickets for what should be a great game.
Who’s a Rotarian?
A Rotarian is a person who:
Vaccinates children he/she will never meet;
Builds houses he/she will never live in;
Educates children he/she will never know;
And knows real happiness that “can only be found by helping others.”
See you all this Wednesday.
