I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that some of you were able to see our Interactorsrace at the pajama sale bed races, they did a great job! If anyone happens to have been there and taken any pictures we would love to have for our social media pages.
The Christmas party committee needs more items for auction, please try and take a moment to consider donating an item or service. Perhaps you may also know of others in the community that would also like to donate. Regardless, we need more items so that we can try to have the best auction yet! The Christmas party is December 6th, 5 PM at Mckays in Bar Harbor.
The club is still actively seeking members SO, please feel free to bring a prospective member to lunch if you know of anyone interested. If you do, their lunch will be on the club!
Looking forward to seeing you all Wednesday, past district governor, Steve Johnson will be at the meeting to update us regarding the past district Nicaraguan Water project. Please join us and bring a friend!
I hope you all enjoyed hearing Rotary Foundation 101 last week at the luncheon meeting. If you missed the presentation, it is posted on the club website -- scroll all the way down on the left side (www.mdirotary.org). Please call me with questions.
As I was preparing my remarks, I realized that there are 8 club members who are remarkably close to becoming a Paul Harris Fellow or a PHF +. If you think you are “this close”, please contact me, Ron, or Joe to find out the specifics.
Reminders, individuals who have contributed more than $1000 to the Annual Program Fund, the Polio Plus Fund or the Humanitarian Grants Program of the Rotary Foundation are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. Additionally, individual Rotary clubs may from time to time honor individuals as Paul Harris Fellows, like we did last week to honor Jenna Horton Boucher and her excellent work on the Park Street Playground. Congratulations again, Jenna.
Remember our goal is 100% of the MDI Rotary Club supporting the Rotary Foundation. All gift sizes and gift purposes are important and will be matched by our club up to $50. Please make your gift before December 31 by giving a check to Treasurer Ron Wrobel or clicking here https://map.rotary.org/en/selfservice/pages/SelectFundF.aspx?FUND=APF.
When we introduced Rotary Club Central in 2012, it revolutionized goal tracking and planning for clubs and districts — no more filling out paper club-planning forms or passing along boxes of historical club information every time a new leader took office.
Rotary Club Central offered clubs and districts a quantifiable way to begin measuring local and global impact, specifically membership initiatives, service activities, and Rotary Foundation giving.
But as with any technological advancement, in a few short years, Rotary Club Central began to show its age, and Rotarians took notice. They...
At its January 2017 meeting, the Rotary International Board of Directors adopted a new zone structure for Rotary clubs.
Rotary bylaws require the Board to complete a comprehensive review of the 34 Rotary zones no less often than every eight years to ensure that each zone has an approximately equal number of Rotarians. The Board’s previous review of the zones occurred in 2008.
The Board earlier approved the creation of three regional workgroups to develop rezoning proposals for Asia, Europe/Africa, and the Americas. These workgroups comprised one representative (either a current director,...
Through The Rotary Foundation, Rotary members have supported thousands of projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, save mothers and children, support education, and grow local economies. We’ve also led the fight to eradicate polio worldwide. As part of our celebration of the Foundation’s centennial, we’re honoring 20 global grant projects with special recognition. Learn more about the projects using our interactive map.
