Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving with your families, friends, and loved ones either here or wherever the holiday may have taken you.
Rotarians are thankful for the opportunity to serve and represent our professions. We know of many causes, many opportunities to volunteer, and we know that members in our Rotary Club have made a huge impact in our local and international communities.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that we have the opportunity to meet each week, hear a speaker, network, and enjoy the fellowship of Rotarians.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that we have the ability to raise the funds needed and the time and ability to support programs that make a difference in the lives of the children and families in our local and international communities, such as the backpack program and wheelchair project.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that the eradication of polio in the world is almost complete. There are only two countries with active cases of Polio, and it is Rotary members who helped and will continue the fight until we have completed the task of ridding the world of Polio.
We as Rotarians should be thankful that we can achieve our motto each day of “Service Above Self.”
Upcoming Events:
- December 4th 5 -7 pm: Holiday Rotary Party at McKay’s - If you have items to donate for the silent or live auction, please let me know ASAP. I would like to have them all by December 3rd.
- December 7th 9 am – 3 pm at The Jackson Laboratory: Volunteer opportunity for Help-Portrait MDI.
- December 20th 8:30 – 9 am at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church: Backpack program volunteers needed. Usually 4 people are needed to do the job most efficiently. Please contact Josh Yarbrough and let him know you would like to participate this time.
I hope to see you for laughter, fun, and good cheer this Wednesday at the Holiday Party. The festivities start at 5 pm, and it should be a good time with fun for all of us!
