I hope everyone had a meaningful Memorial Day weekend, and thank you to all who served and continue to serve this amazingly complex country we are all so fortunate to call home.
As you already know, our Rotary’s 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and Seafood Festival have been cancelled. It was a difficult decision to make, but with so many uncertainties due to COVID-19, the Seafood Festival Committee decided that it is best to protect the well-being of all volunteers, Rotary members, and all the people that visit us each year. I know it’s not the same, but it’s possible we will have it in the fall during the bed races, and of course it will be a smaller event. Again, this is something we are considering but nothing is carved in stone yet. Likewise for the Adventure Golf tournament fundraiser with such an unprecedented situation, it’s difficult to plan for future events; so we’re trying to explore options.
In good news, we have the month of June all booked up with speakers thanks to Admin Chair Colleen Maynard, and I would like to encourage all members to join us in our ZOOM meetings. It’s nice to see all your faces even though it is onscreen, and I feel that we are celebrating the spirit of the club and keeping it alive through technology.
If you haven’t seen the entire list of speakers for the rest of May and next month, here it is:
May 27, 2020 - Jenna Beaulieu, Seal Cove Auto Museum
Jun 03, 2020 – Zoom Rotary Social
Jun 10, 2020 - Alf Anderson, Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce
Jun 17, 2020 - Chrissi Harding, MDI Hospital, COVID and Chrissi's new role
Jun 24, 2020 - Susy & Stefanie, Passing of the baton...
I’ll be sending Zoom invitations for all of these meetings.
