This week’s evening meeting is at Pat’s Pizza in Bar Harbor!
At last week’s meeting, we discussed what would be the worst thing that could happen to our club. And the consensus was that the worst thing would be for our club not to exist. Then we broke into groups and talked about “What would you do to make sure your Rotary club failed?”
Answers that came back included:
- Reinstating strict attendance requirements
- Increasing yearly dues or meeting costs
- Making the meetings happen far away
- Stop doing the Seafood Festival
- Not having a meal at lunch
- No interesting speakers
- No connections to other clubs and organizations in our community
Then Shaun Farrar added, “only vegetarian meals.” Interestingly, none of the bad decisions included feedback about service projects other than the Fourth of July festival or networking with each other.
As Susy Del Cid Papadopoli leads us in our upcoming strategic plan process, it’s good to think of how we can make progress thinking about what our worst case scenario is, avoid those pitfalls, and then move towards shaping positive goals and action steps to be the best club we can be.
Projects Update:
- We have two Little Free Libraries in our possession!
- I’ll be talking to Parks and Recreation Committee (Bar Harbor) tonight about the festival permit and the libraries, hopefully.
Last Week’s Announcements: Mark Tipton and Stefanie Joy Muscat both talked about their organization’s films. The Criterion is part of a state-wide John Ford film festival, and the Abbe has an Indigenous Film Festival Lead Up Series.
