Og Mandino once said, “Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.”
It’s a pretty tall order, but I think if any of us can do it, it’s Rotarians.
And we can do it for organizations as well. How would you feel if Rotary stopped existing? The Criterion? The Jesup Library? The Food Pantry? The Abbe? Your church or synagogue? How can we spend our time helping to preserve and lift the organizations that make a difference to us? How about the traditions that help create our community? Hayseeders Balls. Marathons. Bed Races. Art walks.
I know I’m going to try harder to make sure that I treat people and nonprofits with the kindness Og Mandino mentions. I hope you will, too.
Soon, Susy Del Cid Papadopoli will be putting her slate in for the next Rotary board. I hope that if you have an interest in leadership, you’ll let Susy know. And in the meantime, our club needs help with:
- The MDI MARATHON WATER TABLE
- STORY TRAIL PROJECT
- LITTLE FREE LIBRARY COMMITTEE
- POLIO DAY (INFO TO COME)
- HOLIDAY PARTY AND AUCTION
Please contact me if you’d like to help on any of these projects. I hope you have a great week! We’ll be at Side Street Café for our evening meeting this week! I hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
Carrie
