This is a pretty exciting time for Rotary. We’ve recently admitted three amazing new leaders; Amy Roeder, Mark Tipton, Lee Bonta, and now – this week! – Stephanie Muscat. These dynamic new Rotarians do a lot of good work at the Criterion Theatre, Jesup Memorial Library, and the Abbe Museum and have so much energy, passion, and creativity. They’ve already spent years creating projects, inclusion, and passion in their fields. Please make them feel comfortable and at home when you see them. Many thanks to Steve Boucher, membership chair, for his work. And please think about who you’d like to share Rotary with and reach out to those you haven’t seen at a meeting or event recently. We’re only a strong, fun club with a lot of passion because we care about each other. That makes me really proud and honored to be a part of this group. Thank you.
GRANT AWARDED
Good news! We’ve received a grant from District 7790 for $1,250 for the project to create an anti-bullying program for schools and the surrounding community in Bar Harbor, in partnership with Improv Acadia! This is such a great, good thing. Promoting civility and empathy is a huge need in our society, our community and our own lives, and we’re going to get to do that in such a fun and exciting way.
MDI MARATHON
At the last couple of meetings, I’ve called for volunteers to (wo)man the water table for the MDI Marathon on Oct. 14. This was a fun event last year, and it was a great way to help the community and the runners and work together as Rotarians. This year, we’re probably going to wear capes. So. . . WATERVILLE 100th ANNIVERSARY GALA DINNER & DANCE

We as Rotarians focus a lot on our club and community, as we should, but Rotary is so much bigger than that. It’s 1.2 million people around the world taking action to solve problems together. And even more locally, we’re part of the Quebec-Maine District 7790, with the awesome Waterville Rotary Club. They will be celebrating their 100th anniversary on Saturday, October 6th, at the Thomas College Field House in Waterville. Special guest speaker will be The Honorable George J. Mitchell. The evening starts with a reception at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the program at 7:30 p.m. Dancing with The Hello Josephines is scheduled for 8:30 to 11 p.m. If you're interested in attending this event, tickets are available for purchase online.
