Join us Wednesdays at 12 PM at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor, except for the first Wednesday of each month when we meet at 5 PM at Pat's Pizza in Bar Harbor. If you attend in person, please be vaccinated.
We had a good group of "the regulars" at last week's lunch meeting as well as a guest/prospective member, Robin Stratton. She has recently moved to the area. Lisa gave it a good try to have us join via zoom a meeting of the Hanover, NH Rotary club, who had 2 speakers, (Susan and Steve), profiled in the Rotary Magazine for their efforts to help in Ukraine. From what we could hear, these New Hampshire and Massachusetts clubs have raised 100s of 1000s to help the children of Ukraine. In particular, they've brought in 5 child psychologists from Israel to assist. They currently have a project to raise $440,000 by 4/04/23. Lisa was going to reach out for more information to see if there is an opportunity for our club to be involved.
This week, we will hear from Chrissi Maquire, President and CEO of MDI Hospital, about their current building project. Hope you all can attend.
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Leymah Gbowee led Liberian women in a nonviolent movement that helped end their country’s civil war. Now, she’s working to help other girls and women realize their own power. Hear her speak at the 2023 Rotary International Convention in Melbourne.
