Join us Wednesdays at Noon, at Atlantic Oceanside Hotel in Bar Harbor, except for the first Wednesday of each month when we meet at Pat's Pizza in Bar Harbor. If you attend in person, please be vaccinated.
We had a little better turnout for our meeting last week, including our guests Craig and Daniela Sause from the Milano Castello Rotary Club of Milan, Italy. And even better, Lisa had arranged to have Craig be our speaker for the week. Craig was more than up for the task and provided a lively account of the activities of their club and of Rotary in Italy. Craig was originally from the U.S. and married a woman (Daniella) from Milan, and he has lived in Italy ever since. Among other things, he discussed Interact and Rotaract in Italy (Rotaract is much more prevalent there). I thought it was interesting to hear of the similarities between his club and ours. For example, one of their annual projects is to paint over graffiti. Thankfully on MDI, we don’t have the graffiti of large cities in Italy, but this project reminded me of our roadside clean-up. Each group is doing a little bit to make their community better. Here is information on this year’s event.
CLEANING DAY AT THE COMPREHENSIVE INSTITUTE "VIA LINNEO"
Delete over 500 writings in four hours. From 9 am to 1 pm about ninety volunteers contributed to a major redevelopment project at the "Via Linneo" Comprehensive Institute and at the Piazzale Gerusalemme playground, disfigured by vandals. Rotary and Rotaract Milano Castello volunteers, funders of the entire project, coordinated by the Abruzzi-Piccinni Committee, came together to clean up walls and other public goods.
This week our speaker is Nick Walton from First National Wealth Management, who will explain to us why inflation is so high. I hope you will join us at the Atlantic Oceanside at noon, have good fellowship, a good meal, and hear what Nick has to say. I promise to have you back on your way by 1 p.m.
