Due to the pandemic, we are currently meeting in-person at 43 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor and via Zoom. Join us on Wednesdays at Noon, except for the first Wednesday of the month when we meet at 5:00 pm.
We have a big week coming up with a visit at our Wednesday lunch meeting from our Rotary District Governor Doug Curtis. The District Governor is the official representative of Rotary International in our region. Doug is a Rotarian from the Rockland Club, and he started his one-year term as Governor on July 1. He and his volunteer Rotary team are very engaged in District decision making. I look forward to hearing his presentation.
As I mentioned in an email last week, anyone doing any service work (doesn't have to be Rotary) this week or last is eligible for a reserved parking spot during lunch on Wednesday at 56 Cottage Street (across the street from the Swan Building, our temporary home). Email me the work you did along with the nonprofit's name (1 sentence is fine). If we have more than 10 people, it will be first come first serve.
And speaking of service, thank you to Scott, Chris, and Colleen for doing the roadside cleanup. Four people and six bags of trash...they needed us! With the cancellation of Friends of Acadia's annual roadside cleanup this year, the Bar Harbor/MDI Rotary Club has picked up the mantle, erhh trash in this case, and has planned several cleanup days this summer and fall. The next cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 at 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. We meet at the Seal Cove Shops at 11 Seal Cove Road, SWH. Bags, gloves, and very stylish safety vests are provided. All are welcome!
And a huge thank you to Dean and Penny Read for hosting us at this month's evening meeting last Wednesday. It was so fun to see people and meet 3 new Rotary friends, Bill (prospective member) and Jean and Jerry from the Tarpon Springs Rotary Club in Florida.
