Hello Rotarians,
Last week we had our first Zoom meeting with 12 participants including members of our club and one member of the club of Dumount de Roy in Quebec. It was nice to see you all through this new Zoom interface as it seems, for now, to be a good way for us to stay in touch and say hi to each other. We also had a presentation by Shoshona Smith of Healthy Acadia who talked about what the organization does helping people in need during these difficult times. In particular, she talked about the Neighbor for Neighbor (N4N) program. I would like to share a
news clip which provides an overview of the N4N Program. If you would like to donate, please click on this
link. Shoshona Smith is available to answer any questions you may have about this program; she can be reached by
email or 667-7171 ext. 210.
Our next Zoom meeting will be on Wednesday, April 29. Our President Elect and Executive Director of the Acadia Family Center, Stefanie Joy Muscat, will present a talk regarding the mental health impacts in COVID times and how we can all perform self-care and also when to call a therapist to help. It will be an interesting topic, and I hope we will have great participation from our members. I’ll be sending the invitation for this meeting next week.
Also, a virtual social meeting will be scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th at 5:00 pm, like our usual evening meetings. If you can’t make it to our regular noontime virtual meetings, this could be an opportunity to show up, say hi and have a fun time (half an hour or so). I heard this is now called: “Virtual Happy Hour.”
I know this is a new phase for our club. Not having our regular lunch meetings, social gatherings, fundraisers, and volunteering with no social distancing required is hard to do and somewhat difficult to process. I ask everyone to try to work through it the best you can, take care of yourselves, and take care of your loved ones.
See you all soon,
President Susy
