Hello everyone!
There are so many Rotary babies being born! Please join me in congratulating Alyssa Walcott Bushey and her husband, Ryan Bushey, in welcoming their little girl, Bella. Also, even more recently, John Jagger and his wife Shannon welcomed William Timothy Jagger into this world. Finally, as mentioned before, Alan and Amanda Mogridge welcomed their second child, Zoe. That’s three Rotary babies born this spring. So many congratulations to these beautiful families!
Non-Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow
Many thanks to
Dean Read for heading up the Non-Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow this year. Members may nominate a person who is not now and has never been a Rotarian, but exhibits the traits of a true Rotarian by making significant contributions to our community outside his/her employed position. Nominations are due to Dean on Friday, May 31, 2019. The board will make the determination of the recipient.
Fourth of July Events
Our Fourth of July events are up on
Facebook, the webpage, and Eventbrite for presale tickets. Those of you on Facebook, it would be really helpful for you to share those events. You can find them on the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary page. Thank you for your help!
LITTLE FREE LIBRARY NEEDS SOME BOOKS! Really.
The Park Street Playground’s Library is still going strong, and we have fantastic members who have signed up to help monitor the library throughout the summer! So many thanks to you all. But, we’ve also received some surprise help from the Preceptor Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Bar Harbor. This group is currently led by Penny Read, and they are going to help us keep the library stocked this summer.
Panama Grant
Incoming President Susy Del Cid Papadopoli has received wonderful news about next year’s wheelchair project in Panama, receiving a $5,000 check from a New York donor that she and her husband know. This is such great news for such a great project! Congratulations, Susy!
Interact Prom
The Interact Prom is scheduled for Sunday, June 2 at MDI High School from 2-4 p.m., and volunteers are needed to help set up at 1 p.m. Even if you can’t set-up, pop over for some fun and to support the amazing Interact Club. If you can set up,
send Susy an email to let her know!
Annual Meeting
Please sign up soon for the annual meeting at Jack Russell’s Carriage House on
June 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Let
Colleen Maynard know how many will attend and your meal choices. You don’t want to have her chase you down. Please come. Even if we haven’t seen you in a while because life’s been in the way. It’s a great time to catch up and honor each other and check out the new Carriage House.
Polio Prescription Bottles
Don’t forget that we have a new method of collecting money for polio eradication via the prescription bottles available at the meetings. Just fill them with change, return, and you’ve helped save a life. All the money we raise is matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
