Hello Rotarians,
Sunday was Mother’s Day. Personally, it felt a little bit different due to the limitations on the activities we normally participate in to celebrate that day, such as: family visits to see loved ones, going out for a meal at our favorite restaurants, or even traveling somewhere. Nevertheless, for those mothers out there, I hope you had the opportunity to share the love of your family and felt really spoiled!
Last Wednesday we had our first Rotary Social via ZOOM. Thank you to all the Rotarians that joined us for this event. It was nice to see all of you, especially faces we don’t see that often these days. We shared 40 minutes of camaraderie, talking, and checking in with each other on how everyone is coping with the new normal. And if you weren’t able to attend, you missed Ron Wrobel’s look for that evening…it was pretty cool. That’s all I’m going to say.
The Board of Directors met last Monday via ZOOM, and made some decisions:
- The Annual Dinner celebration won’t take place this year due to COVID-19. Incoming President Stefanie Muscat and I will work on a way to honor the passing of the gavel this year. Stay tuned.
- The Golden Apple Award will be given collectively to all the teachers in AOS91 and the check for a $1,000 will be presented to the Superintendent to spend where needed most.
- This year we will give 4 scholarships of $500.00 each to high school seniors.
- Unfortunately, this year we will not be awarding the Non-Rotarian Paul Harris Award due to lack of nominations.
- The Adventure Golf Fundraiser has been postponed. Day and time TBD.
The Seafood Festival Committee is meeting with representatives from the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce on Monday, May 11th to discuss ways to make the July 4th festivities happen. However, it’s more likely that we won’t have our big fundraiser this year.
This Wednesday, we are hosting Rotarian Elise Frank. She will be talking to us about the CARES Act. Look for the ZOOM invitation in a separate emai today. Hope you can join us.
Have a lovely week and see you on Wednesday.
