As you know by now, World Polio Day is next Sunday, October 24. Susy, Lynn, Annette and I have been busy putting together a list of businesses to help us raise money and awareness. Our financial goal is to raise $1,000, and we are well on our way thanks to Dick and Barbara Fox who made a gift in honor of Steve Boucher, our speaker last week. What a great talk Steve gave about www.endpolionow.org! Steve's slides are posted on our club Google Drive at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RDnnKeRlPRW9JmqIqI11RC1JdCkDatd-.
This week at our lunch meeting we will have Dr. Paul Blackstone, District 12 Commander of the American Legion and President of the American Legion Foundation and Barbara MacPike, Commander, George E. Kirk, Post 25, American Legion, Bar Harbor, Maine, speak about the history and future plans at the American Legion on Cottage Street.
I recently talked with Debby Hammond who is working on the Thanksgiving Baskets project at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church. In addition to a financial gift, our club members will collect stuffing to add to the boxes being delivered to local families in need. Please bring a box or bag of stuffing to the meeting on Wednesday, November 17 (or before).
In the meantime, be thinking about how you want to participate in World Polio Day...you can drink coffee, eat pizza or pancakes, drink a pint of beer, order a trail sign or jam, volunteer to help, or what do you want to add to the effort? If you cannot join us next week, please share our information on Facebook and Instagram with friends about the day. https://www.facebook.com/events/422713412742764?ref=newsfeed
On October 24, visit The Thirsty Whale, Acadia Perk, Siam Orchard, Jordan's, Coffee Hound Coffee Co. at the Stadium, Acadia Trail Sign Company, and between the First and Bar Harbor Bank and Trust to...
