Dear Club Members,

It’s been a VERY busy week, please take some time to read the communication from both Joe and Lincoln;

From Joe;

At this week's meeting I made a presentation on the two principal online sources of Rotary Information: (1) The Club website and database and (2) Rotary International.

Each of these sites requires a log on to access the database part of the site.  Of particular interest at this time is logging on to the MyRotary section of Rotary International -- one of President Sue's goals for the Presidential Citation.

I have posted summaries of the presentation, divided into "Logging On," and a summary of each site in "Online Resources" on the club website. If you have not yet done so, please go to the "Logging On" presentation and establish your presence on these sites -- at least the MyRotary site.  The presentation is on the club website in the lower right of the homepage at: www.mdirotary.org.

Thanks,

Joe Losquadro

From Lincoln:

The Rotary Club of Old Town would like to cordially invite you to attend our meeting on Thursday, March 31.
Stan Peterson and his fiancé Rachel Betterley will be presenting on their NID trip to India led by PDG Serge Poulin. This should be an interesting and fun evening.

Please extend the invite to any members and guests who may be interested in hearing about their travels and experiences. We request an RSVP by March 28 from each club for meal planning purposes.

Dinner is $15 per person. You are welcome to join us a little early for some social time if you like. The doors are usually open by 5:45 pm. We start promptly at 6:15 pm.
Please note: we are now meeting at the Elks Lodge in Old Town

Invitation

District Grant Management Seminar

The District Grant Program is in its third year and it is fully operational. This program is of the utmost importance for the clubs and District 7790. For the current year 2015-2016, clubs have requested more grants than there was money available. We hope it will be the same in 2016-2017.

Once again club qualification will be made at PETS. The participation of all the presidents-elect at this training simplifies the qualification process. However, we realize that this forum is not ideal. It does not allow participants to get an answer to all their questions and most of the time, the presidents-elect won’t be responsible for the district grant during their year as president.

Therefore, we are organizing two seminars in Maine. You are invited to attend either one of these seminars on grant management. Any one working with district grants or global grants in any capacity and anyone interested in district grants should attend one of these seminars.

The dates of the seminars are April 1, in Bangor and April 2nd in Waterville.

These dates should give you plenty of time to allow submission of your grant request for the year 2016-2017 before the deadline of April 30, 2016.

Please confirm your participation by replying to this e-mail as soon as possible. Your cooperation is necessary so that we can book an adequate meeting room and make the appropriate number of copies.
We thank you for the dedication you show in serving your community and in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

From Rotary International
Interact clubs are making a positive difference in schools and communities around the world. Leaders of sponsor Rotary clubs and districts should make sure their Interact clubs get the recognition they deserve by verifying that they qualify for a Presidential Citation. First, ensure that the Interact club status is active in Rotary's database by checking the Listing of Club-Sponsored Organizations report in Rotary Club Central. If a sponsored club is not listed, submit the Interact Club Certification Form by 1 March. Then, verify by 15 April that your Interact clubs have qualified for the...

Rotary members, their families and friends can support Rotary’s work by bidding on antiques, artwork, jewelry, and collectibles through eBay Live Auctions events. Each month, Rotary will promote on its social media outlets a set of upcoming Live Auctions events, and eBay, the world’s largest auction website, will donate a portion of all sale proceeds from those events to Rotary. Live Auctions events enable buyers to participate in auctions across the United States -- held at such auction houses as Sotheby’s, Swann, and Freeman’s -- without leaving home. Under this proceeds-sharing...

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours. The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address. This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.
