Hello everyone!

Our annual meeting at Jack Russell’s Carriage House is on June 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. It’s a great time to catch up and honor each other and check out the new Carriage House. There will be no regular Wednesday lunch meeting on that date.

Our last evening meeting at Bar Harbor Lobster Company on Main Street in Bar Harbor was absolutely wonderful! Thank you to Colleen Maynard for setting it up.

This Wednesday, we’ll be talking about ShelterBox. According to its website, “In 2012, ShelterBox became Rotary International’s first Project Partner and remains the only disaster relief charity. This agreement enables both organizations to collaborate more closely to bring relief and temporary shelter to survivors of disasters worldwide. The project partnership has built on both organization’s strengths in responding to disasters all over the world.”

Last night, I was on a long conference call about the 2020 District Conference, which will be held at the Samoset Resort. Incoming District Governor Suzanne Melanson will be here in July meeting with our new board and talking to the club. For more information about dates for all our speakers, check out our club’s website at http://www.mdirotary.org/

Fourth of July Events
Our Fourth of July events are up on Facebook, the webpage, and Eventbrite for presale tickets. Those of you on Facebook, it would be really helpful for you to share those events. You can find them on the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary page. Thank you for your help!  If your business, name, or organization would like to participate in sponsoring this year’s event, please contact Susy at: susi2072@yahoo.com. Cost is $100 per table under the dining tent.

Softball Event - Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Sea Dogs
There will be a really cool fellowship opportunity this July! Princess and Pirate Day on Sunday, July 14th. The Portland Sea Dogs, AA Affiliate of the 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox are partnering with us, the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club on Sunday, July 14th, as they take on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, AA Affiliate of the New York Mets. In partnering with Rotary, a portion of every ticket sold through this link will be donated to the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club, which we are then donating to the Acadian Youth Sports. The July 14th game is also the Sea Dogs "Princess and Pirates" day at the ballpark, and all kids are invited to dress as their favorite princess or pirate and join Slugger on the field for a pregame parade around the warning track at around 12:00 PM. The game is at 1:00 PM, and gates open at 11:30 AM. Here’s a link to buy tickets, which are $9 each. Thanks, Steve, for taking this on.

Polio Prescription Bottles
Don’t forget that we have a new method of collecting money for polio eradication via the prescription bottles available at the meetings. Just fill them with change, return, and you’ve helped save a life. All the money we raise is matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
