Hello Rotarians,
I’d like to once again thank Colleen Maynard, Josh Yarbrough, and Chris White for volunteering last Wednesday to assemble 150 duffle bags for Comfort Cases. These bags are meant for kids going into foster homes. The bags will be delivered to the Department of Health and Human Services, DHSS, in Augusta, Bangor, Westbrook, Skowhegan and Dover. We as Rotarians are committed to helping each other, and when it comes to community service, we will be there to lend a hand to those less fortunate.
Thanks again to Liz Cutler and Alan Mogridge for the donation of stuffed animals. Additionally, a special thanks to Eve Mogridge, daughter of Alan and Amanda Mogridge. We heard that she got very excited about the Comfort Cases project, and she wanted to donate all her stuffed animals. Her heart is definitely in the right place when it comes to helping others. Good job Alan and Amanda!
Rotary is all about service to others, but what is community service?
Community Service is one of the Five Avenues of Service which encourages Rotarians to offer service to their communities. Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in our local communities. When clubs complete effective service projects, they improve the community, bring people together, and reflect well on Rotary. When Rotary is viewed as a positive force in the community, its membership strengthens and grows, adding to the organization's ability to serve worldwide.
Rotarians are improving lives in communities around the world every day through thousands of service projects. Every Rotary club and every Rotarian assumes a responsibility to find ways to improve the quality of life for those in their communities and to serve the public interest.
In the end, what do we have?
- Encouraging and fostering the ideal of service to the personal, business, and community life of every Rotarian.
- Opportunities for every Rotarian to exemplify "Service Above Self.”
- A chance to respond to the needs of our local communities.
Please be aware of these upcoming events, and let me know if you would like to participate in any of them:

See you all soon,
