Club Assembly This Wednesday!
The wonderful thing about our Rotary club is that, once you’re a member, we don’t make you come to meetings or volunteer with us unless you have time to. This is wonderful because it’s a no-pressure situation, and it’s wonderful because we don’t judge you if life or work gets in the way sometimes, and you can’t come for a bit. You’re always welcomed back with open arms.
It’s a bit harder sometimes because, in order for us to get official business done, we have to comply with our constitution and bylaws, which requires a certain number of members to be present for official business. That said, please come to this Wednesday’s meeting where we’re going to try again to vote in Susy’s board. They begin serving in July 2019, and we need to put their names in Rotary’s database.
Please consider being president in July 2020. If there was ever a time to step up and be a Rotary hero to this club, it’s now.

Zone Conference
The
Zone Conference in Niagara Falls September 17-19 is a great opportunity to understand the bigger picture of Rotary and our area. Our Zone is a four-country, two- language compilation of Rotarians in Bermuda, Canada, France and United States
. The focus of our conference will be
Developing Leaders, Engaging Community, and Growing Rotary. These are the confirmed speakers:
Chad S. Priest, JD, MSN, RN—Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross, Meridith Elliott Powell, Todd “Bowtie” Jenkins, Jennifer Jones— Past RI Vice President & Director, promotions chair for the 2019 Rotary International Convention, Brittany Arthur—Past President of Rotaract Club Berlin and a board member of the Rotary International Joint Committee for Young Leaders and Alumni Engagement.
As you can see, we have a slate of top talent that will inspire, challenge and motivate us to grow in Rotary service. There will be more information about each of the speakers next month.
Volunteer Opportunities
In case you missed my email, here’s information about upcoming volunteer opportunities:
- Winter Window Community Build - The 2019 Winter Window Insert Community Build started Friday & volunteers are still needed. If you'd like to help out, or for more information, please contact Brad: brad@dirigohome.com, or 207-266-7945. Let's make the New Year warm & energy-efficient!
- Wheelchair Project in the Dominican Republic - Past District Governor Lincoln (of Ellsworth) wanted his project to be about distributing wheelchairs in a couple of countries. Our club supported this project, and members can be involved in the distribution. According to Assistant Governor David Wells, "We just completed the order for the wheelchairs and have confirmation that they have been ordered by the AWM. Dominican Republic expected distribution of 280 wheelchairs 6 to 13 April in the Northern part of the DR. Expect to stay in the Santiago area. Moises is working on rooms." If you'd like more information or to be involved, Dave's email is djwmsw@aol.com.
