Dear fellow Rotarians,
This week we will be having a virtual meeting via Zoom, on Wednesday, December 16th at Noon. We will have a presentation and discussion with Maria Donahue and Shoshona Smith, from Healthy Acadia. Please watch your inbox for Zoom details!
Healthy Acadia works tirelessly to build stronger communities, and there are numerous areas of overlap between this regional NGO and Rotary. Healthy Acadia is a community health coalition, working since 2001 with hundreds of partners and thousands of community members to address a wide range of local health needs. They build partnerships, coordinate education and public health services, and improve policies, systems and environments to create lasting positive changes to the health of the communities in Hancock and Washington counties. Rotary, too, works through numerous coalitions to address healthcare — albeit on a global scale. As noted in a recent issue of the Rotarian, “We believe good health care is everyone’s right. Yet 400 million people in the world can’t afford or don’t have access to basic health care.”
Maria and Shoshona will share how Healthy Acadia is combating this in our backyard. Maria Donahue, MPH, MSWS is the Community Health Director, and Shoshona Smith is Healthy Acadia’s Development Director. To learn more before Wednesday, please visit

Finally, I want to remind you of our reverse advent calendar project. Please visit

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
Yours in service,
Stefanie
