While I’m gone these next two weeks, I know that you’re in great hands with incoming president Susy Del Cid Papadopoli and recent past president Steve Boucher who will be heading our next two meetings. This week’s meeting will be at Fork and Table on 102 Main Street, Northeast Harbor.
Meeting Changes:We won’t be having meetings November 21 or December 26th. The regularly scheduled board meeting has been moved to November 19.
Holiday Party:Our holiday party and silent auction will take the place of an evening meeting on December 5, at the Criterion Theatre. Lisa Horsch Clark has kindly volunteered to be in charge of the silent auction, so please expect some emails from Lisa soliciting items. The proceeds will go to the Criterion. The event is still in the planning stages. Please let me know if you’d like to be on the committee by emailing me.
Bed Races:November 10, Rotary and Interact will be running the race! Cheer them on!
Future President:Want to be president of the club, but you’re a little nervous about the commitment? The responsibility seems too much? We can figure it out with you and for you, but we need to know your worries and needs. Please send meor Susy an emailwith your thoughts. Past presidents, you can help, too.
Rotary is a network of 1.2 million friends, neighbors, business associates and civic leaders. Our goal is to create positive, lasting change in our communities, to be the inspiration – locally, regionally. and internationally. To do that we all have to be open, civil and volunteer both our time and our wisdom.
While we do a great deal of charitable giving, the club itself also supports a number of local and regional projects.
We have sponsored the Acadia Youth teams and backpack program, heating assistance, food assistance programs, literacy programs and more.
We have supported the local library, YMCA, YWCA, Chamber, Criterion, MDI Hospital, and many other non-profits.
We have run the amazing Fourth of July Seafood Festival and Pancake Breakfast for years.
We have revitalized the Park Street Playground.
We have given out many scholarships to local students and given funds to local teachers.
As I write this – we have several projects that will start to rev up including an anti-bullying project, story trail literacy project and Little Free Library projects. I’m soon going to be talking to a couple of businesses and outside agencies about a project involving opioid addictions.
