Due to the pandemic, we are currently meeting via Zoom. Join us on Wednesdays at Noon, except for the first Wednesday of the month when we meet at 5:00 pm (check Facebook or the speakers list on this page for the topics presented).

This Wednesday, May 26th at Noon we will hear from incoming President Lisa Horsch Clark. Please watch your email for Zoom details! Lisa will begin her term on July 1st, and we celebrate the passing of the gavel on July 7th at 5 p.m. at Art Waves. I was thrilled when Lisa agreed to be our next President and know her tenure will be one for the history books!
For the very few who may not know her, Lisa directs fundraising efforts for Friends of Acadia, working primarily with individuals, foundations, and corporations wishing to make charitable gifts to support capital and special projects. She specializes in estate and planned giving, and leads the development office in running a low-cost, efficient development program. Lisa joined the staff in 2005, leaving a long-time career in fundraising in higher education to raise funds to preserve and protect our beloved park. She can often be found hiking Acadia’s trails and biking or skiing on the carriage roads with husband Bob and daughter Grace. Lisa holds a B.B.A. in International Business and French from James Madison University, and an M.B.A. from James Madison University. She also dedicates time and passion to several projects. Simply put, she is a force of nature, and our community is better for having her in it. I hope you will join me this week to learn about Lisa’s plans for the 2021-2022 Rotary year.
RI President-elect Shekhar Mehta is urging members to become more involved in service projects during the upcoming year, saying that caring for and serving others is the best way to live because it changes not only other people’s lives, but also our own. Thus, the theme for 2021 -2022 is “Serve to Change Lives”. There is no one better suited than Lisa to lead us through this theme.
By building on a proven concept — such as efforts to stamp out malaria in Zambia — Rotary’s new multimillion-dollar Programs of Scale grants help make good better.
The Otto and Fran Walter Foundation has pledged $15.5 million to The Rotary Foundation to start a Rotary Peace Center in the Middle East or North Africa.
