Recruiting Year Round !

Greetings my fellow Rotarians,

I know that January isn’t “Membership Month,” that’s August. However, January is the month of fresh starts, or re-envisioning who you want to be in the upcoming year and for the rest of your life.
Rotarians need to do that too, and so does our club. Many of us joined Rotary specifically to give to the world and our local communities. Rotary allows us to do that, to make positive change. It allows us to make new friends. It allows us to understand each other better both locally and globally.
So, as we enter 2017, I’d like for us all to think about how we can make our club better and ourselves better through Rotary. How can we engage with other members and bring in other members? I would like to extend a shout out to Jim Ashe for potentially bringing in two new members this year!
Rotary Friendship exchanges help us make friends all around the world.
Rotary Fellowships allow Rotarians to share hobbies and passions.
Rotarian Action Groups are places where Rotarians collaborate on projects and increase the impact of their own service projects.
Rotary Community Corps help local leaders create change.
When I think about the good our club does in this community and beyond, I’m always impressed, but I also know that we can do more. With more members, we can have more impact. With more impact, we increase our potential. One of the avenues of service that I think we could all try to develop is vocational service. Another thing we could do is partner more with other agencies and nonprofits like the YWCA and others, so that we can increase our reach and help more people. Please think about any places you might volunteer or be on a board. Now, think about how Rotary can help that organization, help our community!
We are lucky to be Rotarians because it gives us an organization that will support our efforts to do good. Let’s make the most of it. Together.

What's Happening
Backpack Project

Hello and Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful time over the holidays :)

This is a reminder of the Congregational Church's Backpack program as it continues through the new year.  But first, I would like to thank those who participated!  Thank you! Also, a special thank you to Steve Boucher for being the first person to sign up in the fall, and to attend each month's backpack program.  Thanks Steve!

Now, as for January-June, these are the following dates that are available to volunteer.  Again, as a reminder the volunteering is once per month on a Friday morning until the end of the school year.  We meet at the Congregational Church in Bar Harbor for one hour at 8am.  Dates are:

January 20
February 17
March 17
April 21
May 19
June 16
