So many thanks to the Rotarians who helped and hung out with Interact for its Downeast Horizons Prom. My apologies for not being there. I’m still recovering from my illness, but Shaun had my car keys in his truck and he drove far away before he realized it. It’s been the first year that I wasn’t attending and I missed it a lot. If you haven’t gone yet, please take the opportunity if Interact invites us next year. It is easily one of the most fun events that happens. Plus, it’s a great way to support Interact.
Evening Meeting
Our evening meeting on Wednesday, June 5th, is at Bar Harbor Lobster Company on Main Street in Bar Harbor! Thanks Colleen for setting this up.
Non-Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow
Many thanks to
Dean Read for heading up the Non-Rotarian Paul Harris Fellow this year.
Fourth of July Events
Our Fourth of July events are up on
Facebook, the webpage, and Eventbrite for presale tickets. Those of you on Facebook, it would be really helpful for you to share those events. You can find them on the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary page. Thank you for your help!
If your business, name, or organization would like to participate in sponsoring this year’s event, please contact Susy at:
susi2072@yahoo.com. Cost is $100 per table under the dining tent.
Softball Event - Binghamton Rumble Ponies at Sea Dogs
There will be a really cool fellowship opportunity this July! Princess and Pirate Day on Sunday, July 14th. The Portland Sea Dogs, AA Affiliate of the 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, are partnering with us, the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club, on Sunday, July 14th as they take on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, AA Affiliate of the New York Mets. In partnering with Rotary, a portion of every ticket sold through this link will be donated to the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club, which we are then donating to the Acadian Youth Sports. The July 14th game is also the Sea Dogs "Princess and Pirates" day at the ballpark, and all kids are invited to dress as their favorite princess or pirate and join Slugger on the field for a pregame parade around the warning track at around 12:00 PM. The game is at 1:00 PM, and gates open at 11:30 AM.
Little Free Library Update
The Park Street Playground’s Library is still going strong and we have fantastic members who have signed up to help monitor the library throughout the summer! So many thanks to you all. We’ve also received some surprise help from the Preceptor Psi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Bar Harbor and the Mystery Cove Book Store. Preceptor Psi is currently led by Penny Read, and they are going to help us keep the library stocked this summer as is Barbara Baron Gifford from the bookstore.
Annual Meeting
Please sign up soon for the annual meeting at Jack Russell’s Carriage House on
June 19, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Let
Colleen Maynard know how many will attend and your meal choices. You don’t want to have her chase you down. Please come. Even if we haven’t seen you in a while because life’s been in the way. It’s a great time to catch up and honor each other and check out the new Carriage House.
Polio Prescription Bottles
Don’t forget that we have a new method of collecting money for polio eradication via the prescription bottles available at the meetings. Just fill them with change, return, and you’ve helped save a life. All the money we raise is matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
