July 4th Pancake Breakfast and Seafood Festival
On Independence Day we celebrate by working ... to raise money for charities.  The work starts weeks and months before as members begin planning for this day long festival. The day before the event will find most of the club's membership on the athletic field across from the YMCA, setting up tents, tables, chairs, grills, lobster cookers, and all it takes to serve thousands of pancakes and nearly 1,000 pounds of lobster.
On the 4th of July itself (or occasionally the day before or after if the town so dictates) the festival begins at 6:00 am with a pancake breakfast, which lasts until after 10:00 am. At about 11:00 am (or as soon as we can switch over to cooking lobster, corn, hot dogs and french fries), we begin to serve lunch until about 2:30 (or when the lobsters run out).  Come on out and enjoy the day with us.  Everything you spend (over and above our costs) goes to charity.  In 2001 we raised over $16,000.

We have developed a website dedicated to the festival.  For more current information or even to volunteer, please visit: http://mdiseafoodfestival.com/
From very humble beginnings in 1971 when the club LOST over $3,000, this event has blossomed into a community event where we are joined on the YMCA athletic field by nearly 30 other non-profits.  As an example, the following is the list of participants in 2009:
