On Independence Day we celebrate by working ... to raise money for charities. The work starts weeks and months before as members begin planning for this day long festival. The day before the event will find most of the club's membership on the athletic field across from the YMCA, setting up tents, tables, chairs, grills, lobster cookers, and all it takes to serve thousands of pancakes and nearly 1,000 pounds of lobster.
On the 4th of July itself (or occasionally the day before or after if the town so dictates) the festival begins at 6:00 am with a pancake breakfast, which lasts until after 10:00 am. At about 11:00 am (or as soon as we can switch over to cooking lobster, corn, hot dogs and french fries), we begin to serve lunch until about 2:30 (or when the lobsters run out). Come on out and enjoy the day with us. Everything you spend (over and above our costs) goes to charity.
Typically we raise over $20,000!

District Governor's Visit
Aug 09, 2017
I look forward to serving as the 2017-2018 District Governor for District 7790. Our District is made up of 50 clubs in Central Maine and the Providence (Province) of Quebec. We are a multi-cultural district, speaking English and French, but we all have the same love in our hearts for Rotary and doing good in the world.
As we start the Rotary year, please remember that everyone can make a difference. It all starts with one person, one idea. But always remember that we can do more together than we could ever hope to do alone.
Rotary has three common goals:
I look forward to working with each of our clubs pursuing these goals in the coming year. I would like to thank every Rotarian for all the good work they do every day in our communities. Who and what is Rotary? You are Rotary and You are Making a Difference.

Nov 18, 2017 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
The Rotary Leadership Institute will return to District 7790 on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Lewiston – Auburn College!
This program seeks to strengthen Rotary club leadership through quality, engaging education in both leadership skills and Rotary knowledge. We hope that these courses will also motivate the participants to be enthusiastic, creative and dedicated Rotarians. This is an outstanding opportunity for each club to improve the Rotary knowledge of its key people, who will also be exposed to new ideas of leadership. The exchange of ideas with other Rotarians makes the courses even more worthwhile.
RLI Parts I, II, III, and the Graduate program will be offered. The course day will start with registration at 7:30 am, and classes from 8:00 am–3:30 pm. The reasonable $95 registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, and coffee break. Please register ahead of time, so we can prepare for size of rooms, amount of food, material needed, etc. We will need to have enough pre-registrations a few weeks prior to the program to ensure that each part will run. If you have not registered yet: To register, go to the RLI Northeast home page at http://www.rlinea.org/, and click on the Lewiston link in the left column, where you’ll find the Course Registration link. Many additional details are provided on the Rotary Leadership Institute website at http://www.rlinea.org/. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at dadams@neias.org or 207-632-4721. |
