What a great turnout for our meeting with 21 in attendance. 12 members, 4 guests (Edwina Hutchinson, Peter Sutton and John Wallace plus our guest speaker Bart Traynor) and 5 partners (Allison Borland, Helen Busch, Pam Hawkins, Jenny O’Dwyer and Roslyn Tomlinson).
A delicious three course meal was served up by Kouma as usual.
Our gust speaker Bart Traynor a Clinical Psychologist, who happens to be the son in law of our member Jim & Pam Hawkins. Bart held the floor with the members and guests listening intensely to his stories, his path to where he is today, his study history and his thoughts on how things can be changed to improve the system in the future.
Over the years Bart has had some scary interventions and assessment encounters with mental health patients in their own homes. To have the skills and training to handle these situations and be able to calm the patient down and bring them around to a point where they will accept help is to be greatly admired.
Thank you, Bart for a wonderful address and giving us an insight into the world of clinical psychology.
