The evening started right on time with 27 attendees which included 4 visitors,PDG Andy Rajapakse, Michael Thompson and Illona Teremi (who were guests of Andy’s) & Edwina Hutchison.
Meeting was opened by Sergeant Neil who introduced President Peter. Peter welcomed everybody and asked Neil Baldwin to propose the toast which he did to ‘Rotary Fellowship Groups”
President Peter then advised the meal would be served and following the meal we would have the sergeant run his session, including a fine session,(raised $45) heads and tails (won by lucky Malcolm) and the raffle won by that consistent winner Russ Hutchison. Unfortunately Russ forgot the wine and I enjoyed a couple of glasses last night. Thanks Russ.
We then proceeded to Directors” reports and first to speak was Treasurer Neil Jones who gave an outline of our financials and funds on hand position.Suffice to say things will continue to be kept to a minimum, controlled, necessary expenditure.
Secretary Tony was next and he outlined how to print the updated list of members which is held in club documents on the club website (Members section)
Then followed Bob Jordan from Admin who advised 2 main items.
1. Times to login for dinner meeting have been bought forward to 5.00 p.m. SUNDAY. You will receive 2 invitations to register, anyone registering after the information goes to the hotel will need to talk with the hotel directly.
2. The registration for sizzles is disappointingly slow and makes us wonder whether we should now be investigating replacement forms of income to meet our programmes which, without sizzle money will not operate. Perhaps a levy of $5 per member (not attendee) per week will return roughly the same. The sizzles, unless they are better represented by members will not be able to be run .If you can help please do.
Neil Baldwin from Foundation -- November is Rotary Foundation Month and Neil Baldwin advised Treasurer Neil Jones will make a presentation to the club on the Foundation.
The next movie Premiere to raise funds for PolioPlus is The Duke and will be available in Australia on December 2. Neil will advise details of any local screening in due course,
We will once again be involved in distribution of Rotary Xmas cakes/puddings for our scooter recipients and any club members who wish to purchase.
Neil also advised the club has chosen not to participate in the Polio Train Ride for World Polio Day in late October.
Noel Hodges for Youth advises brochures have been sent to 8 schools; the brochures have a QR code for students to access all dates and application forms. Our Yearly budget of $2000 has been spent to $480. Unfortunately it will be difficult to fund all the projects Noel has managed to find but I suppose that is typical of most of our programmes.
Andrew advised we are making progress with our money boxes and hopes that within two weeks we can present to the club.
Finally Harold gave an update on the scooter project - in summary we currently have 60 recipients and the committee is confident of meeting budget Income of $1,000 and keeping expenses within budget of $5,000.
Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone or anything but if i have, apologies.
