It was the usual great night at the Hub this week. There was a lively group enjoying pre-dinner drinks while looking forward to our special meal. We were not disappointed. Haydee, Angelita. Lagri and Ross prepared a lovely meal and many went back for seconds. John Monks also cleaned the Hub ready for the event and John Curr set up the bar. Great team effort! Ross then gave a brief talk about flying in new Guinea and how his dedication to flying at an early age led him to the profession. It was also great to see PP Bruce who did the wine run from south of the border. If anyone has ordered wine from the flood affected hotel, it is at the Hub. A reminder to all about our visit to SPG next Tuesday. Please register early so we can give them numbers. This was our last night at the Hub for this presidential year and our thanks go to John C,. John M., Haydee, Angelica, Lagri and Ross for making it so special.

Please note the following was sent to all members of the Club on Wednesday 25 May 2022

However, the Email statistics are showing that some members have not opened this Email so it is repeated here

As outlined, it is extremely important that members advise me of any change they wish to make regarding their membership status

Please note the following does NOT apply to Honorary Members

As you are well aware we are only a few weeks away from the end of the Rotary year (30 June 2022)

As at 1 July 2022 the Club is billed by Rotary for membership fees for the ensuing 6 months.

In this sense, we are billed for each member who appears as a current member of the Rotary Club of Broadbeach as at 30 June 2022

It must be appreciated that NO REFUND TO THE CLUB WILL BE MADE BY ROTARY for any member who may choose to resign from the Club after 30 June 2022 and has not paid their 2022 - 2023 dues.

Therefore if you are intending to resign from the Club, that is, not renew your membership for the ensung 2022 - 2023 Rotary year, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU LET ME KNOW BY 23 JUNE 2022 AT THE LATEST IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP

This will enable time to notify Rotary International in the USA and thus remove you from the membership list ensuring we are not billed

Please note that the Club is responsible to pay these fees on your behalf and is not in a position to carry such an expense should a member resign without advising prior to 30 June 2022

FROM OUR MEETING 24 MAY 2022

Well, one of our best , if not the best night at the final HUB meeting for this Rotary year.
34 people in attendance, absolutely beautiful Pilipino menu prepared by Haidee and her friend Lagri.
A truly international night full of laughs and friendship.
Acting President Pauline opened the meeting and introduced all partners and guests who totalled 12 in number.
We also had Honorary members Uwe and Kevin in attendance.
Sergeant Neil raised nearly $60 from the fine session and the Copper Pot seemed to be full. (Well, almost) Raffle winner was Neil Baldwin and Heads and Tails by Denise Jordan (first time in 21 years).
Following dinner John Monks introduced our guest speaker Ross Fieldus who was a former pilot instructor and pilot in New Guinea for over 40 years. It’s a wonder he survived that terrain and the planes that were used. Altogether a very enjoyable talk, John passed a vote of thanks and gifted him with the traditional speaker’s glass.
My personal thanks to those who have helped set up and clean-up after every Hub meeting, without your help these nights would not have been possible. A lot of work but a very rewarding part of our club’s calendar.
Next Friday is the second last sizzle for the year, thanks to everyone who contributed to the sizzles, you have kept the club financially viable and able to fulfil its commitments.

It's a 5 minute walk from my house to the pub, and it's a 35 minute walk
from the pub to my house.

This anniversary I decided to change this bad habit to make my wife happy.
For a week I was diligent, always capping the toothpaste after brushing my teeth.
