Our July Fellowship Meeting saw 15 in attendance, including Partner Ruth Welch and Honorary member Kevin.
We again enjoyed a ‘full’ meal prepared by Chef Kouma and his daughter. We thank Kouma for feeding us so well.
The cleaning and preparing The Hub for the meeting was appreciated by all and we thank the members for being on the roster.
Lucky Noel Hodges won the Raffle and accepted the obligatory Red Wine – well done.
The next Bunnings sizzle was also noted for Friday 25 July and the members who are on the roster as well as those preparing for the day are thanked for their support.
Discussion was held about the upcoming address by our new Rotary Group Leader – Rob Brown on 2 September and whether a combined meeting with other clubs was possible. I have contacted our other Group 4 clubs and they have at this point of time booked Rob in for their own meetings, but some clubs have indicated that they would be interested in having a combined meeting with us outside of this Group discussion, with this to be pursued.
Further discussion was held on possible fundraising activities for the club, with a Quiz/Trivia night to be investigated.
Also, the age of our Mobility Scooter fleet was discussed with the possibility of a Community Benefit Grant application being made to update the fleet. Concern was expressed about the cost of maintaining the fleet and the way forward given the funds available in the Community Account.
Thanks also to the members who have paid their Membership Fees as Treasurer Noel has had to already pay some invoices for this Rotary year.
We have a Guest Speaker – Tim O’Dowd booked in for our 5 August meeting and I encourage members to register.
We are currently in Outback Queensland on a Rotary RV Fellowship Tag Along and having a great time, even if it is a bit cool. We are heading to Winton not only for the Dinosaurs, but also the Camel Races.
See you on 5 August
