Presidents Message
Fellow Rotarians and friends,

Thank you to our District Governor Dave Harmon and his wife Robyn who joined us last Tuesday evening at the hub. Dave shared with the members the Rotary International President`s message and an update on District 9640. Dave and Robyn are so  passionate  about stopping domestic violence and give us an update how Rotary is helping in such a big way.

Our Christmas toy drive is well under way to supplying  the children’s wards of Gold Coast University Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital. Please bring a gift along to our Christmas party on December 12th. Any gift is appreciated suitable for a child aged 1 to 17 years old.

We still are in need for some volunteers to help with the Bunnings BBQ on Christmas eve. If you can help, please register via the website, or call Harold.

Our Christmas dinner will be held on December 12th at the hub so please book in via the website and our in house chef kouma will be cooking for us. Cost is only $25 per head and please deposit funds directly into the Broadbeach Rotary Admin account. Looking forward to seeing all our members and partners on the night.

Chef Kouma is cooking Christmas hams basted with maple and Kentucky bourbon. If you would like to order a ham  for Christmas day, please have orders in by 12th December.

Yours in Rotary,

 Andrew

SUPPORT OUR CHARITY
THE ROTARY FOUNDATION
NOVEMBER WAS ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH AND THE MOST APPROPRIATE TIME TO MAKE A PERSONAL DONATION TO THE ANNUAL FUND OR THE POLIO FUND.
Alas it is disappointing only two members have made contributions via the Club Administration Account (you may have made a contribution direct but please let Treasurer Neil Know so that our records are correct). Contributions will not be on forwarded to TRF until after the Xmas Party so plenty of time for further donations as outlined below:
Become a Centurion by contributing A$100 or a Sustaining Member by contributing US$100.  All donations, no matter how large or small are valued and help our charity fulfill its aim of "DOING GOOD IN THE WORLD".
Donations can be made direct to our Administration Account BSB 034 637 Account number 201534. Treasurer Neil will transfer the funds in bulk to TRF and lodge a multiple donor form enabling the issue of individual tax deductible receipts.

CHRISTMAS TOYS FOR KIDS IN HOSPITAL

FROM OUR MEETING 28 NOVEMBER 2023

Scribe: Neil Jones
Acting Sergeant Neil got things underway at 6,30 by welcoming all and providing a little trivia regarding 28 November in history before introducing President Andrew,

Andrew welcomed our guests, DG Dave and Robyn, and Pam Hawkins.
Special mention was made regarding the provision of gifts to patients in the children's wards at GC University and Pindara hospitals at Christmas, our recent gift of a $500 pharmacy account to a very sick and needy young lady and the need for further volunteers for the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Christmas Eve.

The Sergeant's session was short and sweet with all present reminded that today is "Giving Tuesday (a global day of generosity) which offered the opportunity to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation via the fines session. $76.50 was contributed.
Pam Hawkins won the door prize and DG Dave won Heads & Tails.

District Governor Dave then addressed us commencing with a brief overview of his and Robyn's background and interests or should I say passions.

Turning to Rotary, Dave highlighted our core values of Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity, Service and Leadership and how each of these plays a key role in successful clubs.

On the subject of Regionalisation Dave said the big positive from his point of view is that Rotary will have one voice throughout Zone 8 which can only enhance our presence and ability to attract key partnerships.

A short video of RI President Gordon R McInally's theme speech "Create Hope in The World"  and an explanation of his key focus areas provided a good overview of the current RI direction.

Finally Dave related his story on "Creating Hope in the World" involving the "Say No To Domestic Violence" campaign which continues to grow and is now endorsed by all District Governors in Zone 8. We applaud both Dave & Robyn on their passionate efforts to make a difference.

Robyn then outlined her Partner's Project which supports our own charity, The Rotary Foundation. Her presentation provided a very succinct overview of the Foundation and its contribution to a better world.

President Andrew thanked Dave & Robyn for not only their presentations tonight but also on the strong leadership and passion they are providing our district. In conclusion Andrew announced Broadbeach would support Robyn and contribute $500 to both the Annual Fund and PolioPlus.

Those contributions have been made and Robyn has emailed us today as follows:
"
Thank you so much for your club’s generous donation to the Rotary Foundation.
Dave and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to your club on Tuesday evening. Your hospitality was exceptional and very much appreciated.
It was wonderful meeting your club members and hearing of the amazing work you are all doing in your community.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Kindest regards,
Robii Harmon 🌸
