President’s Report     26/11/2019.

Tuesday the 26th proved to be an enjoyable evening at the Hub with a great BBQ served up by Grahame Werrell and co workers.
It was great to see so many partners attending the evening.
John Monks discussed his recent trip to the Philippines.
Two fund raising functions will be organised next year by Brian Pearson.
These will be a ‘Chinese NY’ in February and ‘Sizzle and Swing’ in May.
Bruce reminded us of Christmas puddings to purchase and also of Centurion fund raising.
Our sister Club Tauranga recently donated $1000 to DG Harry’s ‘drought and bush fire’ fund.
Don Pilbrow from Tauranga RC was instrumental in arranging this donation.
There will be a working bee on Saturday morning to move ‘donated orthopaedic equipment’ from the mens shed Arundel to the Hub prior to them being shipped to Vanuatu.
Next Tuesday’s meeting should prove to be a fascinating evening listening to the man who predicted the election of Donald Trump, Brexit and a Coalition win in this years’  Australian Federal elections.
I look forward to seeing you there.

Membership types.
Please circulate to all clubs.
Until recently Rotary International allowed only two membership types, Active and Honorary.
With the introduction of new membership types an additional two have been added to the D9640 Clubrunner District and Club websites.
Members of Rotary Clubs may now have Active, Active-Satellite, or Active-Corporate membership types.
Members of Satellite Clubs can now be identified while remaining members of the host club, and Corporate members of clubs can also be easily identified.
Clubs who have members of these categories are requested to alter their membership records to better identify these two membership types.

To support the Rotary Foundation to do good in the World.
For each cake and steamed pudding we order at the price of $16.50, our Club gets $2.20 and the Foundation gets $2.00.  For each Baked pudding at $7.00 each, our Club gets $1.10 and the Foundation gets $1.00.
So everyone is a winner.  Orders are via return email to me, (BRUCE KUHN brukuh@gmail.com)  or for the next two meetings, I will be passing the list around.  I'll close off orders 4 December.

Dear Members
As November is Foundation month, shortly I will send out invoices to all members to be Centurion's to the Rotary Foundation for the 2019 - 2020 year.
Please note that payment of these invoices is purely voluntary, but would contribute to the fantastic work the Rotary Foundation does in the world.
The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
Keeping that in mind, please favourably consider whether this is a part of Rotary you would like to support and contribute to through a tax deductible donation, and follow the process outlined on the invoice.

It's a five-minute walk from my house to the pub.
It's a thirty-five minutes from the pub to my house.
The difference is staggering.

I don't want to end the year on a bad note.
So apologize to me.

I just got a job at the Guillotine Factory.
I'll be heading there shortly.

My wife asked if her appendix scar made her unattractive.
Apparently, "don't worry, your boobs will cover it" was not the answer she was looking for.

Our men's swimming group meet daily at 7.30 for an ocean swim. The women's group the Mermaids (what else)  are also in the water.
Being blokes we are a little slow in coming up with a suitable group name but one of the ladies had a sudden flash of brilliance and solved our problem.

Over the last few days there has been a number of blue bottle jelly fish in the water and a mermaid remarked- ah yes the blue bottles - you have to be careful, they are the ones  with the long .. test.icles.
Our new men's group name is now officially  the Blue Bottles-caricature logo underway -  merch out soon.

A young man wanting to earn some extra money decided to hire himself out as a handy man and started canvassing a nearby well-to-do neighbourhood. He went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any odd jobs for him to do.

“Well, I guess I could use somebody to paint my porch,” the owner said. “How much will you charge me?”
The man quickly responded: “How about $50?”
The owner agreed and told him that the paint and everything he would need were in the garage.

The man’s wife, hearing the conversation, said to her husband: “Does he realise that our porch goes all the way around the house?”
The husband shrugged and went off on his way. A short time later, the man came to the door to collect his money.

“You’re finished already?” the husband asked.
“Yes,” the man replied, “and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats.”
Impressed, the owner reached into his pocket for the $50 and handed it to him.
“And by the way,” the man added, “it’s not a Porch, it’s a Lexus.”

Husband takes his wife to a disco.
There’s a guy on the dance floor dancing like a king –moonwalking, break dancing, head spins, the works.
The wife turns to her husband and sighs: "You see that man? 25 years ago he asked me to marry him and I said no."
Husband says: "Yep, it looks like he’s still celebrating!!"
-------------------------------------------------
A man was helping one of his cows give birth, when he noticed his 4-year-old son standing wide-eyed at the fence, soaking in the whole event. The man thought, "Great...he's 4 and I'm gonna have to start explaining the birds and bees. No need to jump the gun - I'll just let him ask, and I'll answer."After everything was over, the man walked over to his son and said, "Well son, do you have any questions?""Just one." gasped the still wide-eyed lad. "How fast was that calf going when he hit that cow?"

She was only the whisky maker's daughter, but he loved her still.
-------------------------------------------------
Mr. Combs had a furniture store specializing in ornate antiques in the baroque style. He had walking pneumonia last month but was at the store anyway. He was in one of the baroque style chairs rubbing Vicks Vaporub on his aching chest when he serendipitously discovered that the soothing ointment gave the furniture a wonderful, deep, rich shine.
He immediately told the other furniture store owners since their furniture was more modern in style and they were not competitors. Soon he got reports that the Vicks treatment not only failed to work on the modern furniture, but ruined some of it. Mr. Combs is very unpopular now, and his only consolation is that he learned one important rule:
If it's not baroque, don't Vicks it.

An Indian woman goes to see an Indian fortune-teller.
"Two men are in love with me," she says. "Who will be the lucky one?"
The swami answers, "Nimesh will marry you. Akshay will be the lucky one."
-------------------------------------------------
One day three young ladies who had been shipwrecked on a desert island were
walking along the beach and discovered a magic lamp. They rubbed and rubbed,
and sure enough, out pops a genie.
The genie says, "Since I can only grant three wishes, you may each have one."
The brunette says, "I've been stuck here for years. I miss my family, my
husband, and my life. I just want to go home." POOF!
The brunette gets her wish and she is returned to her family. Then, the red
head says, "I've been stuck here for years as well. I miss my family, my
husband, and my life. I wish I could go home too." POOF! The redhead gets
her wish and she is returned to her family.
The blonde starts crying uncontrollably. The genie asks, "My dear, what's
the matter?" The blonde whimpers, "I wish my friends were still here."
-------------------------------------------------
The bride said she wanted three children, while the young husband said two would be enough for him.
They discussed this discrepancy for a few minutes until the husband thought he'd put an end to things by saying boldly,  "After our second child, I'll just have a vasectomy."
Without a moments hesitation, the bride retorted, "Well, I hope you'll love the third one just as if it's your own."
-------------------------------------------------
A man met a beautiful lady and he decided he wanted to marry her right away. She said, "But we don't know anything about each other." He said, "That's all right, we'll learn about each other as we go along." So she consented, and they were married, and went on a honeymoon to a very nice resort.
So one morning they were lying by the pool, when he got up off of his towel, climbed up to the 10 Meter board and did a two and a half-tuck gainer, this was followed by a three rotations in jackknife position, where he straightened out and cut the water like a knife. After a few more demonstrations, he came back and lay down on the towel.
She said, "That was incredible!"
He said, "I used to be an Olympic diving champion. You see, I told you we'd learn more about each other as we went along."
So she got up, jumped in the pool, and started doing laps. After about thirty laps she climbed back out and lay down on her towel hardly out of breath.
He said, "That was incredible! Were you an Olympic endurance swimmer?"
"No," she said. "I was a hooker in Venice and I worked both sides of the Grand Canal."
