Presidents Message

Fellow Rotarians & Friends,

At our social club meeting on the 20th January we had 14 members plus a guest of Jim Hawkins.

An excellent meal was presented by Kouma with a Greek theme.

Discussions were held on possibility of a working bee to freshen up the toilet block with some repairs and a coat of paint.

Harold Busch said there were more pressing issues as he had a council inspection (first in 10 years) and there are items to be attended to on their list including the need for an escape plan in case of fire. This council report with their requirements will have to be addressed.

Harold Busch spoke on the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle which returned a net profit of just over $1,000. Harold said that we require more helpers and if you can’t make it please advise as we can’t run a shift with two volunteers.

This is our major fund raiser and its not that often so we need members to put their hand up to do a shift. All charities in future have to send in a request to Bunnings to be allocated a slot.

Harold Busch spoke on the Hub cleaning roster that he will put out soon. I feel it would be good idea for all members to send in their holiday plans for the year (when they will not be available) which would help Harold put the rosters for both these together around those dates.

There was expectation that we may have Rob Borbidge as a guest speaker for the next meeting but unfortunitly Rob will be in Sydney. Lets see what Jim can come up with as a guest speaker.

There was discussion on the change over night. With June having five Tuesdays this year it was decided that if Kouma was available than it could be held at the Hub on Tuesday 30th June.

Ron has suggested that the change over night could be a country theme. Dress in jeans, a check shirt, riding or cowboy boots and hat if you like. Place some hay bales (if we can get some) inside to set the country feel. After the inductions and formalities, music and dancing to carry into the night. Now checking with Kouma if he is availability on that date.

Our next meeting Tuesday 3rd February.

Yours In Rotary Service,

Ron Borland

President Elect

Create Lasting Impact is the 2026-27 presidential message
Rotary International President-elect Olayinka H. Babalola called on members to Create Lasting Impact at Rotary’s International Assembly in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 12 January. He urged members to make their clubs more welcoming, carry out impactful projects, and allow their Rotary experiences to transform them personally. “If we can change ourselves, we can change our districts,” he said. “If we can change our districts, we can change the communities we serve. And if we can change our communities, we will change the world.” Read more about the message.
