As I advised by email earlier this week, in the spirit of ‘Service above Self’, Nigel has advised he would be unable to take on the role of President for 2021-22 due to work commitments. Thank you, Nigel, for your integrity in your decision. Peter Dimond has agreed to be nominated as the incoming President, thank you to Peter.
Last Tuesday ‘I Am Woman’, movie event at Robina saw $610 raised for polio plus. Thank you to those who attended a great evening, especially to Nayer and Nasser who had 26 in their party. We were joined by members from Mermaid, Gold Coast, Parkwood and Surfers Paradise, with 80 all up attending. World Polio Day is on 24 October and the profits from our hub evening on the 27th will go to that cause. That night is a partners evening, catering by Chris.
Please don’t forget November is Rotary Foundation Month, our Foundation Directors will advise more on Foundation closer to November.
Our Bunnings BBQ last Sunday saw over $1100 taken, after a slow start that’s an outstanding result. Grace has locked us in for Saturday 12 December for the next sizzle.
Grace also contacted me regarding the club conducting a sizzle on behalf of Gold Coast Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) for national Crime Prevention week on Saturday 21 November. I’ve been in touch with NHW and in consultation with the board, have agreed to conduct the sizzle on their behalf. The ‘letting’ fee for that sizzle is a third of the profits to NHW as suggested by Bunnings. Bunnings will donate the onions and ice for that day. This is an additional fund raiser we wouldn’t have otherwise and welcome funds into the club coffers.
Thank you to those who have volunteered to assist with the Asset Register at the Hub this Saturday from 9am. It shouldn’t take too long, it’s a matter of recording make, models and serial numbers for electrical items, photographing the interior, bulk goods and generalising the remainder to ensure our insurance is appropriate and assisting with identification of items down the track. I’m shouting stale biscuits and tepid tea if anyone wants to pop along.
Please keep 14 November free to assist at Surfers Sunrise shed as part of their Big Bike Sale and celebration of their 10000th wheelchair. We are running the raffle, with all profits to be retained by us from that. The Pentecost building is being erected on site and it would be great for members to see the structure prior to it being flat packed and shipped. Thanks to Dr Graham, Uwe and Kevin for their efforts most Saturdays in the preparation and to all who have assisted.
At our last meeting on 6 October, the club was billed for three meals where members had registered and didn’t attend. This is the second time that the club has been billed this year for non-attendees. To cancel, please call Administration Director Ray who manages the bookings and hotel liaison.
