Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

Another rotary Year has just flown by…..
What a year it has been for many reasons and so far it appears that we have all come through it with flying colours. The club has remained strong right throughout thanks to the leadership of President Les and our valuable members.
Last Tuesday evening 34 of us  Rotarians, partners and friends visited the newly completed retirement resort The Verge at Miami adjacent to the 10th fairway of the Burleigh Golf course. The evening was organised by Grahame Werrell in conjunction with the staff at the Verge. James, Lynda and their support staff took us on a tour of the complex as well as showing us some of the well appointed independent living apartments. James and Lynda provided us with additional information about the village and welcomed any enquiries should we decided to look at future living arrangements.   Following the tour the management shouted us to a delicious meal and desert. We thank the staff at The Verge for their warm welcome and friendly hospitality.

As the outgoing Vice President I would like to congratulate President Les and his board for having  had an excellent Rotary Year with many achievements throughout the year.
Next Tuesday is our changeover and my best wishes to  incoming President Peter Dimond for the year ahead.
As always I have enjoyed the opportunity to be the VP of this great club in President Les’s absence.
I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday.
Yours in Rotary
Alain

Fund Raiser Supporting Broadbeach & Surfers Sunrise Rotary Clubs & The
Pentecost Island Project

Surfers Sunrise President Charles Thomasson has written:

Hi Peter, Les and Graham,
Just touching base on this as BOOKINGS ARE OPEN. Johnny is doing a great job organising the Long Lunch and the food, drinks and entertainment are going to 1st Class.
It is going to be a big fundraiser for the Vanuatu Hospital Project and for both Broadbeach and Surfers Sunrise Rotary Clubs (last year we raised almost $8,000). But we need Broadbeach’s support - it would be great to have at least 25 Rotarians in attendance from both our clubs.
Please share the booking link with your Rotarians and friends

Any questions please ask.
Kind regards,
Charles
President Surfers Sunrise

This is a great opportunity for members to support the club and particularly the Pentecost Island Project while enjoying refreshments, fine food and fellowship.
Please adviise Graham Sivyer if you are interested in attending .

WEEKLY LAUGHS

Do hairdressers get a cut of the profits?

I've been listening to a cassette of protest songs; it's a demo tape.

My wife thinks I'm just a gullible old fool who will never amount to anything. Well, according to my daily horoscope, she's wrong
-----------------------------------------

"How come when you mix water and flour together you get glue... and then you add eggs and sugar and you get cake? Where does the glue go?"
-----------------------------------------

Sign seen in an animal shelter: "All children left unattended will be given a free kitten."
-----------------------------------------

One gossip to another: "It's my policy never to say anything about anyone unless it's something good. And boy is this ever good!"
-----------------------------------------

Q: Why do bees have sticky hair?
A: Because they always use honeycombs.

Q: Did you hear about the robbery in the laundry room?
A: Two clothespins held up a pair of pants.

Q: Where would you look when purchasing felines via mail order?
A: In a Cat-a-log.

Q: What kind of school does a carpenter go to?
A: Boarding school.
