Toast: Noel Hodges proposed a toast to the first Rotary Club formed on the 23rd February 1905 when attorney Paul P. Harris with three business acquaintances formed the Club.

President Pauline updated meeting on Keith Hawton who is in Pindara hospital & looks forward to the Rotalight each week.
John Monks reported that our van has still not been found and is pursuing applicable matters with the insurance company. He has also approached the Mens Shed who will provide and fit steel bars over five windows and the sliding door. (At the time of printing van has been found and culprit arrested )
Sergeants Session: On this occasion sergeant Kevin found it a little difficult to extract too many funds from members.

Guest Speakers:
At the suggestion of Jim Hawkins our speakers were club members with the subject “how and why I joined Rotary”, As Jim was not present Graham Sivyer coordinated and introduced speakers.
Robyn Brown decided to join Rotary after investigating Apex and Lions. Robyn was a member of Mudgeeraba club & then joined Broadbeach. She stated that the club and its members were exceptional
and Rotary has met her expectations.
Andrew Mc Taggart attended a RYTS camp with daughter Emma and joined Broadbeach through Cec McPaul & said that Rotary provides exceptional opportunities in building personal development.
John Monks In 1966 John joined Apex Toowoomba and was a member for 10 years. He transferred and became regional planner on the Gold Coast. Noel Hodges introduced John to Broadbeach Rotary Club.
His time to date has been very enjoyable. John has developed the Hub and now runs the scooter project.
Grahame Werrell Forty eight years ago when Grahame was in Canberra it was customary to be invited to join the fellowship of Rotary. Grahame had many friends in Rotary through his real estate business. He has also been a past member of Apex. He became a charter member of Canberra South when membership selection was by classification of occupation. This represented a cross section of leadership skills with experience to see tasks completed. The four way test was always discussed
and membership in Rotary was held in high esteem in business & social communities. After 49 years Grahame is still a dedicated Rotarian.
President Pauline Armstrong A friend talked Pauline into joining Rotary, Pauline’s Father was a very strong Rotary member.
Nigel Hyland provided an excellent power point presentation in total of what Rotary is all about.
The personal development, leadership & citizenship in the community, business development and growth.
Nigel was asked to join Moona Rotary club Tasmania and was a member for 16 years, he was also a member of Redland Bay for 4 years. Nigel then became a member of Broadbeach and believes the club is
something special & members have built what it is today.
President Pauline in summing up thanked the presenters and reminded members about the forthco district conference at Lismore at which herself and Neil Baldwin will be our club's delegates.. Thanks were also passed on to Allan Cottrell of Mermaid Beach and hon. member Uwe for their attendance.
