Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas Party at our new home – Esprit de Vie
Mermaid Waters on Tuesday 17 December. We had a great turnout with members, honorary
members, past members, guests, incoming members and partners making up the 37 in
attendance.
Thanks to Grahame Werrell for acting as drinks waiter on Level 7 with a welcome drink as
people attended and to Carol for preparing the platters.
It was a reasonably clear night to be able to see the view from Level 7 then down to the
Restaurant for a delightful 2 course dinner. Fellowship was the order of the evening and by
the level of noise in the restaurant there was plenty of festive cheer occurring.
We thanked Chef Jason and his staff as well as the bar staff for providing us with an
enjoyable night.
To finish the night off a number of attendees had a quick look through our facilities and
where we now live.

Email advice received from Sister Club Tauranga
Our 80 th  Anniversary has been confirmed for the weekend of April 5-6 2025, with a
welcome meal on Friday night April 4.
An Anniversary Dinner will be held on the Saturday night at the Armitage Hotel, where we
now hold our Club meetings.
This is close to the down- town area, and where we suggest our visitors stay.
Our members may be able to host a few boarders, but we will not know any numbers until
closer to the date.
We will have some sight- seeing organised for during the day, and if any attendees are
golfers, we will probably organise a mini-international tournament.
It would be useful if we could have an estimate of the number of attendees from Broadbeach
by say, 31 December.

Unfortunately, we will be away in our caravan – returning from the Melbourne International
Garden and Flower Show.

Membership
It’s great to welcome Bill Waller back as a member and in January we will be also welcoming
Ron Borland (Allison) and Colin Welch (Ruth) as members, having been members of
Mermaid Beach Club.

Thank you also to all the members that have supported the Christmas Gift Drive for child
Patients in Pindara Private and Gold Coast University Hospital and a very special thank you
to Andrew, Narelle and their family for their fantastic effort in organising and undertaking this
project.

Just a reminder that our first meeting on Tuesday 7 January 2025 will be a Barefoot Bowls
night organised by Noel and Kay Hodges at Mermaid Beach Bowls Club, Bowls from 5pm
followed by a Bistro Dinner from 6.30pm.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and enjoyable Christmas and
an exciting 2025.
