Rotary Global Grant GG2119555: Application approved
Our global grant application (GG2119555) for funding to provide medical equipment, such as portable digital X-ray, auto hematology analyzer, solar electrical system, to Mauna Health Centre in Pentecost Island, Vanuatu, submitted by the Rotary Club of Santo and District 9640 Clubs Broadbeach, Gold Coast and Surfers Sunrise has been approved by The Rotary Foundation. The award is in the amount of US$ 54,100.00.
This Global Grant which is fully funded is the culmination of the project commenced by Past President Graham Sivyer in 2019/20 when the three Gold Coast Clubs each received District Grants of $5,000 to support the construction of a flat pack building for Mauna Health Centre. This work was continued in 2020/21 with support from Past President Les Bulluss and his Board enabling completion of the building ready for shipment to Vanuatu when COVID restrictions permit.
Contributions to the grant from each of the three Gold Coast Clubs via the Annual Fund (in Broadbeach Club's case enhanced by the generous donation from The Neuman Foundation) resulted in substantial support from District 9640 by way of DDF which in turn was matched 80% by the World Fund. Our Sister Club Tauranga also made a contribution of US$1,000.
A great example of Rotarians from different Clubs and Districts working together to "do good in the world"
Past President Graham Sivyer continues to co-ordinate this project in conjunction with representatives from Gold Coast and Surfers Sunrise.
