Fellow Rotarians and Friends,

Firstly, I would like to thank Pauline for filling in for me while I was unwell the last few weeks. Also I would like to wish Kathy Lewis a speedy recovery from her current illness.

This Saturday the Gold Coast is hosting the join the tram and train ride to end polio. The tram will depart Broadbeach South at 10.04am and will finish at 12.49pm. T Shirts are available from the hub and it would be nice to see a few members attend. This is not a fundraiser but an awareness of Rotary and ending polio.

The next BBQ is just around the corner Please register via the website to assist with the next Bunnings BBQ on Friday 3rd November. To make things a little easier with all members the shifts are only 2 ½ hours each.

All members should have received an email last week regarding the next stage of the Regionalisation Pilot. Please read and look at the PowerPoint presentation so we can discuss, as members will need to make this decision.

A few questions I would like all members to think about before our next meeting on Tuesday October 24^th.

•	What are the areas your club is most passionate about?
•	What are your club's biggest strengths and challenges?
•	What do you imagine your club could achieve with increased support and collaboration?
•	What is your club's preferred primary way of being grouped with other clubs?
•	Is your club interested in being part of a secondary grouping? If so, what shared interest would you like the group to be based around?

Please join us next week to discuss this very important topic. Also let me know if you can arrive a little early to help setup as we need at least 2 members to arrive at 5.15 and help.

Our guest next week is Martin Corkery to talk about District 9640 Ukraine fundraiser at Currumbin RSL.

Secretary Notes

**Yardage material that has been stored in the shed has now been donated to an organisation called Someone Who Cares.

This charity provides much needed goods of many types to Pacific Island nations. The yardage from BBRC will in the main be used to make skirts for young girls and dresses for women. (See separate article under Rotary Information)

**All members should have received an e-mail highlighting happenings across Rotary clubs in District 9640. Members are invited to be involved in these promos.

**The District AGM is being held on the 12^th November. Any suggestions for action by District is welcome.

**District 9640 train ride promoting End Polio Now will run a round trip Pacific Fair and Helensvale departing at 10.05 on Saturday 21^st. Be aboard for a great promo.

**Board minutes from the 10^th Oct now on line. Members are encouraged to review the outcomes from the club assembly held on the same evening.

Dear President,
We wish to thank the Rotary Club of Broadbeach for their donation of six large rolls of fabric and to Harold Busch for personally delivering these to our depot in Underwood.

Our sewing ladies have explored many possibilities and have so far come up with a design for a skirt for a small child. We’ll keep experimenting with ideas for other items of clothing.
Many hundreds of these skirts will be included in all consignments we send to our Pacific Island neighbours as well as being packed into Shoe Boxes for Africa which is an initiative of Samaritan’s Purse supported by the Uniting Church.
