Welcome to 2026.
Our first meeting for the year was a laid-back meeting with only 11 in attendance. Harold Busch did a great job in organising the Takeaway from Kampung Malay and the food was great and enjoyed by all in attendance, particularly the ice cream to finish. Well done Harold and not a lot left over, except the tablecloths displayed the extent of the menu.
Noel Hodges at his last meeting for a few months was the lucky door winner. We wish Noel and Kay happy moving and enjoying the New South Wales Daylight Saving Time as they relocate to Cabarita Beach until their unit in Robina is completed during Autumn. Special thanks to Jim Hawkins who has stepped in to the Treasurer role as Noel is offline for a period.
Great to see Neil Jones at the meeting and we wish him all the best for his continuing treatment.
Also, our thoughts are with former member and Past President Ray Milton following the passing of wife June. It would be great to see Ray at a meeting in the near future.
An item of interest for members is the Combined Districts Conference – titled Reaching Across Boundaries - to be held at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Benowa on 1 to 3 May 2026. This Conference is a combined Conference between Districts 9640, 9560 and 9620. Members are invited to register through the District 9640 website and will be a great opportunity to join with Rotarians from the other Districts.
District 9560 Northern Australia and Timor-Leste encompass Maryborough in the South to Bamaga in the North and Darwin in the West.
District 9620 brings together Rotary Clubs in Southern Queensland, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Nauru.
I will be away for the next 2 meetings and I am hoping that President Elect Ron will take the reins for these meetings.
Thanks to the members and Colin Welch for their continued efforts with Containers for Change – the extra funds are greatly appreciated.
Thanks also for those members working on the latest Sausage Sizzle and for the Scooter Minders.
