Meeting opened with a welcome from Sergeant Uwe Seifert who also proposed a toast to the ANZACS.

Neil Jones reported on the Malaria Vaccine Project meeting held earlier in the day - fund raising has reached $375K on the way to our initial $500k target and recruitment of volunteers for the clinical trials is now underway. Monday 30 April is Malaria Awareness Day Australia.
Paul Taylor gave a brief report on GC2018 declaring it an outstanding success. Paul also gave us an insight to events at Commonwealth House in Broadbeachwhich hosted 16 business sessions involving 35 delegations focusing largely on trade & tourism.
The Sergeant Session was conducted after an enjoyable meal with Uwe ably assisted by Bunyips Denis & Kevin O'Brien who managed to extract funds from all present as no-one was prepared to indicate they supported a change in the Australian flag.
The lucky Raffle Winner was President Alain and Denis O'Brien took out the Heads and Tails.
Alain then introduced member Chris Owen who addressed the club on the topic "What is Stress"
Chris explained that most people do their best under mild to medium stress (good stress) whereas chronic stress (bad stress) continuously beats down our bodies/health. Stress can be physical, emotional or chemical.
Chronic stressors include people, places, situations, conditions or things that create stress on a weekly basis and can cause increased cholesterol and blood sugar, sleep deprivation, increased risk of cancer, poor digestive health and weight gain. Meal time should always be relaxed.
Chris suggested keeping a stress journal as a means of controlling stress - if you don't recognise a problem you can't fix it.
Some hints: Do delegate or toss, avoid people who stress you, take control of your environment, avoid hot button subjects, express your feelings - don't bottle them up,be willing to compromise, be proactive - anticipate problems, manage your time better, reframe problems, look at the bigger picture, adjust your standards - excellence as opposed to perfection, focus on the positive, work only in your circle of influence, look for the upside, share your feelings, learn to forgive and above all nurture yourself by setting aside time for relaxation, connect with others, exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, get enough sleep, reduce caffeine and sugar intake and avoid alcohol, cigarettes and drugs.
Chris summarised by saying stress is all about nerves "you're getting on my nerves" and the need to get adjusted and concluded by outlining some of the equipment and methods he employs in his chiropractic practice. Chris fielded numerous questions and can expect a number of follow up calls from members.
President Alain's vote of thanks was endorsed by the acclamation of all in attendance.
