Fellow Rotarians and friends
It was a fitting toast last meeting to our service men and women and, in particular, to PP John Harding. ANZAC day is a very special day to all of us and I hope you all commemorated it in your own special way.
Thank you Les Bulluss for standing in at the last moment as Sergeant. He did a great job and is really making it a fun time. I hope the monetary gain matched the quality of the session.
Could I remind you all re donating to the Rotary Foundation? This is our charity arm and it is vital that the funding level is such that we can continue our support for those in need both locally and overseas. Please re-consider if you have not already donated. Better late than never.
At the last club assembly we discussed the possibility of getting an Eftpos machine. Andrew has done the research and it is not a viable option. The outlays outweighed the convenience so the decision of the Board was not to go ahead.
We are at the Hub next week and you will be able to see the scooter we have recovered after 18 months of trying. The Southport Police were very helpful, and John Curr and I had a little trip up to Stapylton to pick it up where it had been in storage for many months! Quite a saga. If anyone is free for the Hub clean up Tuesday morning at 9.30 you will be most welcome. Please let me know. We have 2 starters so far.
Have a good weekend.
Yours in Rotary
Pauline

SECRETARY REPORT - Tony Lewis
The following is an issue I have raised on several occasions in very recent times.
I produce a list of Members that contains contact information including address, phone and Email details. This document can be found on the Club website under "View Club Documents"
I also print out hard copies which I distribute to members.
Recently I have had several members approach me and state that they have tried to contact a member using details from this list only to find they are not correct.
My answer to these members who ask such questions is "I have asked and asked both in open Club meetings and through this column in Rotarlight, to advise me of any changes to their existing records, therefore not my problem"
Therefore, I ask members again to check their details and if there is a change, please let me know so I can adjust their records accordingly.

In my early teens my two best mates and myself embarked on many adventures. Our first favourite pastime was building and flying model aeroplanes. We started making planes designed by us and whilst they flew well, we moved to larger models with increased engine capacity. I decided to buy a kit for a plane known as the Baron. The plane had a wing span of 6 feet and the engine requirement was 5-6 cubic centimetres. It took weeks to build and lots of money and the day to fly the beast finally arrived. My mates decided that Sunday morning was the best day and time because of Melbourne’s notorious weather. My Mother had other ideas which included Sunday School however I dodged that in favour of flying. We set up on a cricket oval by the Merri Creek in Preston Victoria and soon had a sizeable crowd of onlookers. My turn came up so we hooked up the Demon to the control lines and started the engine. The plane taxied along the concrete cricket pitch and rose majestically into the air. All was going exceedingly well and the next step was to try aerial stunts like loops and wingovers. The plane performed so well that I became very excited. Then something strange happened and the plane became disconnected from the control lines and started to fly off uncontrolled. It headed towards the creek and directly towards a group of Italian Nona’s busily harvesting their weeks supply of aniseed. The plane headed directly towards them losing altitude as It got close to them. They started to run away hysterically being closely followed by the plane. Then, finally, the plane ran out of fuel and the engine died and the plane crashed at their feet. Unbeknown to us a local resident the editor of The Preston Post was busy recording the events. This unfortunately came to the attention of my Mother after the story was published in the newspaper.  For some unknown reason she grounded me for a Month.

WEEKLY LAUGHS

A couple of elderly men were venting their frustrations about the woes of modern technology.
"I just can't ever seem to remember my darn passwords," grumbled one of them.
The other one smiled. "Oh really? I can never forget mine!"
"How do you manage it?" asked the first guy curiously.
"Well, I simply set all my passwords to 'Incorrect' so that whenever I'm told that my password is incorrect, I'll remember it!"
--------------------------------------------

John's wife woke up one morning feeling completely deflated.
"My word, I feel like my mind has almost completely gone!"
"Are you really surprised?" John asked.
"Why would you say that, John?"
"Because you've been giving me a piece of it every day for fifty years!"
--------------------------------------------

I didn't think wearing orthopedic shoes would help me, but I stand corrected.
--------------------------------------------

I signed up for some aerobics classes and was told to wear loose-fitting clothes.
If I had any loose-fitting clothing I wouldn’t have signed up in the first place!

Want to live forever? Then choose one of these professions:
Old bankers never die, they just lose their interest!
Old lawyers never die, they just lose their appeal.
Old limbo dancers never die, they just go under.
Old printers never die, they're just not the type.
Old tanners never die, they just go into hiding.
Old wrestlers never die, they just lose their grip.
Old chauffeurs never die, they just lose their drive.
Old archers never die, they just bow and quiver.
Old actors never die, they just drop apart.

Q: After the flash on his camera malfunctioned, what did the devil get back from the drugstore?
A: Prints of darkness.

Q: Why did the rooster cross the road?
A: To prove he wasn't a chicken.

Q: Why did the kid bring a skunk to school?
A: For "Show and Smell!"

Q: How do you make an egg roll?
A: Push it!
