Acting Sergeant Neil got things underway at 6,30 by welcoming all and providing a little trivia regarding 28 November in history before introducing President Andrew,
Andrew welcomed our guests, DG Dave and Robyn, and Pam Hawkins.
Special mention was made regarding the provision of gifts to patients in the children's wards at GC University and Pindara hospitals at Christmas, our recent gift of a $500 pharmacy account to a very sick and needy young lady and the need for further volunteers for the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Christmas Eve.
The Sergeant's session was short and sweet with all present reminded that today is "Giving Tuesday (a global day of generosity) which offered the opportunity to make a contribution to The Rotary Foundation via the fines session. $76.50 was contributed.
Pam Hawkins won the door prize and DG Dave won Heads & Tails.
District Governor Dave then addressed us commencing with a brief overview of his and Robyn's background and interests or should I say passions.
Turning to Rotary, Dave highlighted our core values of Fellowship, Integrity, Diversity, Service and Leadership and how each of these plays a key role in successful clubs.
On the subject of Regionalisation Dave said the big positive from his point of view is that Rotary will have one voice throughout Zone 8 which can only enhance our presence and ability to attract key partnerships.
A short video of RI President Gordon R McInally's theme speech "Create Hope in The World" and an explanation of his key focus areas provided a good overview of the current RI direction.
Finally Dave related his story on "Creating Hope in the World" involving the "Say No To Domestic Violence" campaign which continues to grow and is now endorsed by all District Governors in Zone 8. We applaud both Dave & Robyn on their passionate efforts to make a difference.
Robyn then outlined her Partner's Project which supports our own charity, The Rotary Foundation. Her presentation provided a very succinct overview of the Foundation and its contribution to a better world.
President Andrew thanked Dave & Robyn for not only their presentations tonight but also on the strong leadership and passion they are providing our district. In conclusion Andrew announced Broadbeach would support Robyn and contribute $500 to both the Annual Fund and PolioPlus.
Those contributions have been made and Robyn has emailed us today as follows:
"
