The following relates to my address to the members last Tuesday night regarding the weekly production of Rotarlight
I mentioned that Neil Jones produces Rotarlight each week and on the occasions he is away I produce Rotarlight in his absence
The issue now arises that if both of us are away at the same time, there is no one to produce Rotarlight for that week or longer
I ask again for at least 2 members to volunteer to help in the production of Rotarlight. I got no response to this request on Tuesday night
Thus, the bottom line is, that if Neil and myself are both away at the same time, and we have no members prepared to volunteer to publish Rotarlight, there ill be no Rotarlight produced for that week or longer
Please give consideration to becoming a volunteer to produce Rotarlight and let Neil or myself know so we can go into more detail about how, when and how often to produce it for publication each week

ROTARY CLUB OF ASHMORE - GUEST SPEAKER - NORMIE ROWE
The Rotary Club of Ashmore is proud to advise that Mr Normie Rowe will be our guest speaker at our meeting on Wednesday, 17th April (6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start) and his topic will be Anzac Day.  We also expect Normie will tell us a little about his time in the Vietnam War.
We would be pleased if any of your club members would like to join with us on this night.  It is important that we know approximate numbers so we can advise the Ashmore Road Steak and Seafood.  The cost is $30 per person.   Please let me know if you or any of your members would like to join with us on this night.

Council on Resolutions 2019

 One of the changes to come out of the 2016 Council on Legislation is that there is an annual Council on Resolutions (COR) as well as a Council on Legislation (COL) every three years.

Council on Resolutions

Rotary International’s Council on Resolutions meets online each year to vote on proposed resolutions. The Council on Resolutions has the authority to adopt resolutions. Most adopted resolutions are then considered by the RI Board or TRF Trustees.

Proposing Resolutions

Resolutions are expressions of opinion of the Council. They can be submitted to the Council on Resolutions by clubs, districts, the RI Board, and the general council or conference of RIBI.

 As your District Representative to the 2019 Council on Resolutions, I am available to assist the district or your club to draft and submit any resolution. Details on drafting and submitting resolutions can be found in How to Propose Resolutions.

Submission Process

For a club to propose a resolution, the club’s board of directors must first submit the proposed resolution to the club members for adoption. However, a resolution proposed by a club must also be voted on, or endorsed, by the clubs in its district at its district conference, a district legislation meeting, or through a ballot-by-mail, before it can be submitted to RI. A district conference may also propose a resolution directly to the district.

 No resolutions were proposed by clubs or the district for endorsement at the recent 2019 district conference at Lismore. Any club proposing a resolution for the 2019 COR would now require district endorsement through a ballot-by-mail.

 Once endorsed, the proposer may submit the resolution to RI through the online form by 30 June 2019 for the 2019 Council on Resolutions. The district governor must also confirm the district’s endorsement by 30 June 2019. There are no exceptions to the deadline.

Stated that it was fantastic with four hundred people in attendance.
 
Sergeants session run by Les Bulluss who has the ability to lighten pockets.

Bob Jordan:   Bill Rex nominated sergeant for Tuesday 9th April.
Sausage sizzle may have to be reduced to two weeks if more volunteers
are not forthcoming to lighten workload. Takings year to date down 8-10%
Cost increases in bread & sausages with 10c deposit on canned drinks
affecting profitability.  A case to be prepared and lodged with Bunnings
for consideration of price increases.
 
Tony Lewis:   It is easy to view club documents on our website, Members
Can update their details. Board minutes listed for your information.
Another two people required to produce Rotarlight to relieve current
Producers. Instructions listed for ease of use. A call for volunteers at the
meeting got a nil response.
 
Harold Busch:  Car boot roster ok and is working well with the addition
of two extra volunteers.  Daniel Riccardo (Merrimac) scheduled to give
up-date on robotic project in May.  Club has to date donated $4,000 towards
the project . Rosemary House has only a small amount to do to complete
the project.
 
John Monks:  Received $35,000 grant and have bought thirteen new scooters.
We now have 47 scooters in use with two applicants waiting.
Hope Island Rotary Club cancelled its scooter programme and requested a
return to Broadbeach. Broadbeach board when considering the amount of
work and effort John Monks had initially given to them our board decided to
reject their request.
Broadbeach Rotary identification now installed on our van.  The Hub now
Installed with iron bars on all windows
Rotary mobile phone now fixed with John Monks retaining.
Advised Boonah and Beaudesert interested in establishing a scooter
Program.
 
Noel Hodges:  Detailed accounts for the Club to-date.
Project account budget is $70,000, currently projected to spend $78,000.
Expenses of approximately $18,000 to run the Hub and scooter program.
Eftpos machine being investigated for club use.
 
President Pauline in summing up thanked the presenters and Hon Ewe
Seifert.  Also stated that Salvation Army was looking for volunteers to
assist in distributing pamphlets at Broadbeach Blues Festival.

A Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman want to get in, but they haven't got tickets.
The Scotsman picks up a manhole cover, tucks it under his arm and walks to the gate.

The Englishman picks up a length of scaffolding and slings it over his shoulder.
