DUXBURY, MA.

The Duxbury Rotary Club made "Service Above Self" more than just a motto by acting as wait staff for senior citizens who attended the New Year's celebration put on at the Duxbury Senior Center yesterday, marking the second anniversary of their involvement in this event.

More than half the Club appeared "in uniform" to add to the festivities by serving up a large portion of good cheer along with decorating the tables, serving the food, clearing plates and washing dishes for the special New Year's Eve gala event held at the Duxbury Senior Center.

Past-President, Paul Brogna, arranged for the donation of the delicious hors d'oeuvres by Yankee Trader Seafood. The Council on Aging provided an excellent meal and sparkling cider for the noon to 2PM event, which was celebrated with the shades drawn to provide that "10 to midnight" atmosphere.

The spirit of the "evening" was enlivened by the appearance of "The Singing Trooper", Dan Clark, who serenaded the attendees for more than an hour. Trooper Dan has appeared many times at Fenway Park (including the 2013 World Series) and has sung with the Boston Pops Orchestra during their, nationally televised, Fourth of July events on the Esplanade in Boston.

The festivities included dancing and ended with a toast to the New Year by the citizens of Duxbury.
