President Fred returned safely from a great trip to Hawaii and Oregon.  He did bicycle down a volcano but not the one that was currently erupting.  He attended a Portland Oregon Rotary Club meeting and has some interesting observations of how a large club operates.  To conserve time, they have committee meetings before their luncheon meeting.

One of Fred’s major concerns is membership, an active and participating membership, which is needed to support the projects that we want to accomplish.  One of those projects is the Good Neighbor Program, which require the Casino Night to raise funds to support the Good Neighbor Program.

The Mass. State Lottery has just given us the permit to run the Casino Night.

Correspondence has been received from Dietrich Bilger who is interested in an EDX extension course given free on line by Harvard, MIT and other colleges and he wonders if it could be adapted to Razia’s Deh’Subz girls school.  The variety of subjects taught includes science, math and handling teenagers.  Fred will be discussing this with Razia and others concerned with the school on a conference call on Sept. 29.

Club Committee Chairs; be prepared to make a five-minute report about accomplishments of your committee.

Speakers are needed.  Several suggestions were made and will be confirmed.

The need is critical to get the “table sponsors” (secret words).  So far, two out of twelve tables have been taken, with checks in hand.  These sponsorships are needed to at least cover the club’s costs.

SCHEDULE: Sept. 30, a morning meeting.

Oct. 11, a Saturday, a Route 14 Roadside cleanup at 8:30 AM.

Oct. 11, Razia will be speaking at the Senior Center 3:00-5:00 PM.

Nov. 7, the Providence Bruins Rotary Night, $15.00 per person.

Nov. 8, the Plymouth Sunrise Club trivia night.

Nov. 15 Casino Night

FINES/RAFFLE: Fred met Diane 48 years ago and he has converted those years into days, over seventeen thousand.  Bill won the raffle and collected $4.00.
