DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB
BRIDGE March 29, 2017 for the meeting of April 5

Tom Dromey presented his Classification Talk.  He grew up in Springfield and was the oldest of six.  He attended the Cathedral School and Holy Cross.  He started his career with a trucking company in freight management.  This led to several other companies including TMC, which he and his partners bought.  They sold this to Transportation Insights and still works there.  He was inspired by his son Doug to join Duxbury Rotary after hearing of the good works that the club does for the community and beyond.  An interesting anecdote that related to shipping involved repackaging ear buds from China to the US by placing a bunch of the buds in one package that previously only held one pair.  The buds were sorted to individual boxes when they reached the States resulting in big savings in shipping costs.

President Steve, George and Doug are going to the District Assembly in Westport on April 1.

Also on April 1 a crew will help the Senior Center ½ Mile Marathon by handing out water.  Arrive at 7:30 and park at the Girl’s Scout House at Hall’s Corner.

Duxbury Rotary contributed funds to help with the medical costs of a family of an employee that works with Tom.

SCHEDULE: April 5, Craig and Claire McDonald will speak about their Himalayas Mountain Trip.  Bob J. invited them to share their adventures.  Members are welcome to bring spouses and guests.  The Lyons club will also be invited.  Members pay the regular fee and guests will be charged $10.00.
April 22, Habitat of Plymouth, Vet Build, will be holding a fundraising dinner, 7:00 PM at the American Legion, 199 Federal Furnace Road.  The cost is $25.00 per person and includes dinner.  Steve is reserving tickets.

FINES/RAFFLE: Bob J. acted as the Sgt.-at-Arms.  Michelle is celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary.  Several of her grandchildren are celebrating birthdays.  Neli’s son is 21.  Bruce R. is helping with a start-up company that is helping beekeepers with their hives.  Fred is giving “Cooper” (secret name), his new puppy, lessons in seamanship with the dream of getting help in handling his boat.  Charlie won $7.00 in the raffle.
