DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB

Wednesday, March 2, 2016 for the meeting of March 9

“Steve” (secret man) has accepted the nomination to be Club President for the 2016 – 2017 year.  He had some provisos, 1) he would share the responsibility with the vice president, 2) the club will plan for future presidents four years out, 3) presidents would, or could, have two year terms, 4) have it known that the vice president, or co-president, is expected to be the next president.

Shannon Hall Moesaa paid a brief visit to let us know that she is running for a position on the Duxbury School Committee.  She is an attorney, grew up in Duxbury and has a five and one half year old daughter.  She would like to concentrate on the school curriculum.

Fred reported on two of our members who have had health issues, Jack and Abdul.  Eileen supplied a card for members to sign to send to Abdul.  Greeting cards would be welcomed by both members.

Bruce S. had more information on the Haitian school.  He is interested in helping the Haitians to help themselves.  Members shared their thoughts about how to consider future involvement for the school from our club.

Steve is working on a mail merge program to send out letters to prospective donors for the placemat ads.

Steve is involved in Habitat For Humanity, a group that is building Veteran’s homes in Plymouth, Kingston, Halifax and Middleboro.  There is a possibility that our club could help with the construction.

SCHEDULE:  March 10-12 Pets Training.  Steve will be attending.

FINES/RAFFLE: Bob Hebb acted as the Sgt.-at-Arms.  Bruce R. purchased a snow blower.  Bob Hebb has a new car forced on him as a result of a drunk driver who smashed his old one.  Bob is OK.  Charlie W. won $10.00 in the raffle.
