DUCK RACE: The Duck Race will be held Saturday, August 20, starting at 11:30 AM.
Selling schedule;
Wed. Bob and Bruce Rutter
Thurs. Fred, Razia and George
Fri. Paul, Steve and Preston Richmond
Sat. Razia and Bruce Rutter

Bob and Charlie W. and others will man the boats.  Paul will contact the Fire and Police Departments.  Fred will over see the Angry Ducks.  Three to four people are needed to tend the three sets of slingshots, including Neli and Michelle.  Fred will tie the knot in the drop bag.  Hopefully Seth and Abdul’s son can have boats to help gather ducks.  Water will be sold this year.  The goal is to reduce giveaways in order to help raise more funds.  The Duxbury Rural and Historical Society are allowing us to use their land for the race.  They would like to volunteer and to set up a booth with promotional material for the Society.  Razia has volunteered to sell ducks at the race.  Because much of our contributions go to the Veterans, the American Legion will be asked to help sell Duck Tickets.

Note each member will be expected to sell $50.00 worth of Duck Tickets.

Fred will have the table, chairs and paperwork in his garage for the selling teams.
Ducks will cost, one for $5.00, three for $10.00 and ten for $20.00.

The Board will consider having regular meetings every other week and Board Meetings at Steve’s home the alternate weeks.  The Board meetings will be open to all members and are designed to do the planning.  These plans will then be presented to the members at the regular meeting.  The goal is to lay out the whole year of scheduling for annual events to include; the Duck Race, Lobster Night, Holiday Tree Lighting, Holiday Dinner, Trivia Night, Placemat Ads Sales, Charter Night and any other event sponsored by the club.  Steve would like to have a guest speaker once a month who will discuss some aspect of what we are funding like Razia’s girl’s school or Veteran’s housing.

Steve would like to do some fun excursions such as a trip to Clark’s Island, a lobster dinner in Marshfield or visit members, those who are not able to regularly make meetings, in their homes.

Razia informed us that the documentary about her school is ready and will be shown in Canada at a film festival.  It will be shown in Falmouth on July 31 and again in Scituate on Sept. 14.  She hopes to show the 81 minute version, or the 53 minute version, in Duxbury.  Bruce S. had some suggestions about a venue.

SCHEDULE: July 27, the two scholarship winners will be present to accept their checks.  School scholarships have been a custom with Duxbury Rotary for many years.  After the regular meeting there will be a “Board meeting” (secret words).
Aug. 17, Duck sorting will take place at 5:30 PM at President Steve’s home.

GUEST: Preston Richmond has agreed to help us sell ducks.

FINES/RAFFLE:  Bob Hebb acted as the Sgt.-at-Arms.  Birthdays were celebrated by Michelle, Bruce R.’s son, Fred’s wife and son.  Bob J. and his wife look forward to riding the same 1869 cog railway on Mt. Washington that President Grant used, the first President to do so.  Bob discovered this bit of trivia and shared it with the club.  Eileen’s son is safely back in Kuwait after serving in Iraq.   Fred won $3.00 in the raffle.  There is $41.00 in the pot.
