Jacqueline O’Toole spoke about her gift shop called One, located at Hall’s Corner in Duxbury, and her efforts to help the citizens of Chacraseca, Guatemala who supply her shop with jewelry, handbags and other items.  She started buying handwork from the craftsmen of the small town and as she got to know the people, she began designing the items, which they made.  She uses local materials trying to make them sustainable for the craftsmen.  She trains them how to run a business and make the items, helps supply the sewing machines and tools and pays them to make the handmade items, which are fair trade and eco friendly.  With the funds that she raises she is helping to build homes and a library for the town, and anything to improve their lives.
