DUXBURY ROTARY CLUB

BRIDGE February 3, 2016, for the meeting of Feb. 10

Fred filled in for President Eileen.

Fred is looking into the idea of meeting at the homes of some members who find it difficult to make meetings.  The club would bring the food.

A Trivia Night repeat was discussed and it sounds like there is enthusiasm to do it again.  It was a fun evening and the attendees of the first night are asking for more.

The Plymouth “Cinco de Mayo in January” was attended by three of our members, Bruce Rutter, Neli Moitinho and Michelle Shea.  Bruce reports that it was an enjoyable evening.

Fred attended the Senior Center fundraiser, “Black Tie Bingo” and added an upbeat tone to the proceedings.

The request for funds to support the school in Haiti will be put on hold until Bruce Schulman does more research on the organization, which is run by Daniel Laurent.

The Duxbury School’s “Credit for Life” will be put on hold.  Any members who are interested in becoming involved can contact Fred for more information.  They will be having an introductory meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 10.

Another group looking for funds, “End Hunger NE”, was considered but not acted on.

Steve had suggestions to get members involved with a more “hands on” way of contributing by building houses for Habitat for Humanity.  They are building three houses in Plymouth and one in Kingston.  Veterans and low-income families are eligible to apply for a home.

Fred and Cheryl are working in updating the club account books.  Funds are due to Rotary International and to the District.  The Operations Account is getting pretty slim.  “Please pay” (secret) your unpaid dues which are $90.00.

MEMBERSHIP: Fred reports that Jack O’Neil has had some health issues but is improving.  We wish him better health.

FINES/RAFFLE:  Steve acted as the Sgt.-at-Arms.  Fred’s brother and Bruce R’s son are having birthdays.  Neli’s sister will be visiting.
